Wargames Atlantic’s Les Grognards Cavalry Ride To Battle

Wargames Atlantic have a nice festive treat for you to get stuck into with a new 28mm Sci-Fi plastic kit for you to pre-order over on their webstore. The Les Grognards Cavalry are now going to be thundering onto the tabletop to crush their enemies beneath rampaging hooves.

The set was sculpted by Thieu Duong and the studio miniatures were painted by Chris Hindmarsh. Inside the set, you'll get yourself nine Les Grognards Cavalry miniatures made up of three frames of riders and three frames of plain horses that then get upgraded with the bits and pieces within the set.

The riders in the set can be equipped with lance, pistol or sword and the horses can be built plain (without armour) or with armoured heads, chests and full caparisons. There are also three types of gas-masked headgear which allow you to make lots of different styles of rider. You could also mix and match these with the other Les Grognards kit if you were feeling fruity.

I think this is a great set and it's awesome to see the Les Grognards collection expanding nicely with loads of additional options. If you're someone wanting to build alternative Astra Militarum regiments then this is another bonus set for you to consider kitbashing with others out there in the world.

With the new cavalry set, the original Les Grognards plastic kit and the Command And Heavy Support options out there, you've got the makings of a superb army of Sci-Fi soldiers. Bring in some of the 3D Printed bits from Atlantic Digital and you could create a very cool army!
Will you be picking up the Les Grognards Cavalry?

Charge!
These are awesome! The only annoying thing is that 40k no longer encourages odd numbers of models, so even if you take 9 Rough Riders, you’re paying for 10.
Even though I never use cavalry in my wargames, this is genius, and I can’t wait to see what else comes from it.
A base model set (in this case, horsies) with upgrade packs (heads and some extra little doo-dads) that are so well thought-out that it completely changes the model.
Using this idea, WGA can use their base horse set to make cavalry for dang-near any army I can think of, and they only have to make the upgrade packs, rather than the whole model. Love it!
They remind me of …something….maybe Grimkin ? Maybe Warzone ?
