Wargames Atlantic Preview New Unarmoured Late Roman Infantry
September 22, 2022 by brennon
Another sneaky bit of news from the folks at Wargames Atlantic this week. They revealed that there is a new set of 28mm Ancient miniatures coming to their collection. See what you make of the Unarmoured Late Roman Infantry...
Unarmored Late Roman Infantry // Wargames Atlantic
The set is going to come with the usual amount of awesome options that you've come to expect from the folks at Wargames Atlantic. You'll have ways to arm these troops with spear, spatha, plumbata and also a full command element as well just to cap things off.

Christian Lemmen worked on the paint schemes for these miniatures as you can see, they are looking particularly awesome. I always like seeing miniatures ranges exploring this period of history when the Roman Empire is starting to fall into decline. Armies aren't as well prepared and you see a lot more of a mix in terms of weapons, armour and of course the people that use them!
Pleasing Lloyd, there will also be a big old sprue just full of shields for you to choose from.

The idea is that the shield sprue can be used on a variety of different forces, not just the Romans, to show the ways in which different cultures and peoples adopted the weaponry of their friends and their foes. You can have a bit of fun kitbashing with all of that!

This set is coming relatively soon and there is also word of more light infantry on the way.
Are you going to be picking this up to add to your Late Romans?

Good looking soldier figures for the table.
Between Wargames Atlantic and Victrix, wargamers are now spoiled for choices in my favourite era! I already have lots of metal figures (could never bring myself to buy any of those lumpish Neanderthal plastics from Gripping Beast), but I’m looking forward to expanding my collection with some of these new plastics soon. And the possibilities for conversions among all of them are endless—not just Late Romans, but post-Roman Britains, Goths, Franks, early Saxons, early Byzantines, Vandals, Burgundians, and more can all be represented with these same figures!
