Wargames Atlantic Drop More Cannon Fodder Previews

The new plastic Cannon Fodder plastic set is getting released in the near future by Wargames Atlantic and so they have been teasing a few more previews for how they can be painted up. This seems like a good kit for use across an array of 28mm Sci-Fi wargames.

These particular paint jobs and photos come from Matthew Leahy who has been playing around with the kits and some paint schemes to provide you with a few options. For example, the pair of "soldiers" above have been geared up to tackle some harsh and unforgiving alien planet where the atmosphere is no doubt exceptionally toxic.
Perhaps you like the idea of sending them out to clear up some infestations? Well, here is another idea from Leahy who has put some Cannon Fodder into the jungle to hunt down bugs.

The idea of this kit as a whole is to provide you with a bunch of grunts that can soak up enemy bullets and lasers. You could paint them up as prisoners from a penal colony, a planetary defence force that drafts in the local populace or perhaps security guards who patrol the corridors of a mammoth space station.
Either way, this set provides you with plenty of options for your Sci-Fi tabletop wargames. They look to be very system agnostic so you could probably drop these into something grimdark like Warhammer 40,000 or as the basis for a crew in Stargrave perhaps.
What do you make of these new paint scheme previews?

Conscripts for my Imperial Guard you say? Yes please!
They do very nicely fit the bill!
did you see the bomb collar versions for penal troopers?
Ooh I didn’t. I’m thinking PDF rather than convicts but I did have the old penal troops and am a sucker for a touch of nostalgia.
Also penal *guffaw*
Somehow my mind went all “Cannon Fodder” on the Amiga… 1993…
Ok apart from the giant heads, I’m afraid this is becoming an ongoing issue with Wargames Atlantic. It has put me off buying a couple of boxes despite how much else I like them.
They’re heroic scale the heads are meant to be a bit bigger surely? Also helmets do indeed make your head look larger ?
Do they come with red shirts?
I already above a platoon painted up for Hammers Slammers using Copplestone Castings figures, but looking at the phoo in the Jungle these figures would be ideal for Slammers infantry from what I remember of the narrative from books.
Despite my comment above can see them appearing in my collection for ‘Bug Hunt’s of some sort.
looking cool! vietnam looking green uniform is very intriguing, nice to field some non-Catachan Deathworlders…
Any hope of a Death Fields game rules.
Those look nice!
I think they’re going to sell alot!
nice figures.
So I’ve been following the Northstar Stargrave and the Wargames Atlantic Cannon Fodder/ “Death Fields” miniatures. And after these last few photos were released, I can say I’m disappointed in the Cannon Fodder. They said the GIANT zippers wouldn’t look that big in the final product.. nope, they do. The ‘depth of detail’ as I call it, is shallow at best. Look at the lasgun-alternatives. What happened!? They look like early 97’s plastics. I’m not hating here. This is criticism to make the BEST product they can. I’ll be going with the chunkyier Stargrave crew over these, with the benefit… Read more »
