Wargames Atlantic Preview A Peek At 28mm Conquistadors!
December 28, 2020 by brennon
Wargames Atlantic has been showing off a few more snippets of what awaits in 2021. The Conquistadors are going up against the Aztecs with a pair of plastic sets scheduled for release next year. Recently, we got a peek at some of the invaders from Spain.

This gives us a look at the core bodies for the set with an array of different armour styles. These soldiers also come with helmets, caps and a selection of different weapons including halberds, spears, swords, daggers and more. You've also got some shields which will protect you from flying missiles.

This is a neat snippet at more fun miniatures for a period that we don't tend to see explored in tabletop wargaming. As well as all of the hand weapons you've also got the crossbows and muskets which can be used to send the Aztecs packing and back into the jungle.
I am really interested to see more from this set with the Aztecs and I could even see these Spaniards going up against the Lizardmen they have been previewed recently too.
Are you going to be checking out this set when it releases?
"I could even see these Spaniards going up against the Lizardmen they have been previewed recently too..."
Not only are these a cracking set but they would make some handy alternative additions for a frostgrave band
Pizarro, Aguirre and the rest for Frostgrave/Ghost Archipeligo….definately
Pizarro, great call, I can see Ghost Archipeligo scenario fitting theses lovely minis perfectly ?
Ace! Looking forward to these – the conquest of the Americas is a fascinating period of history, what’s more, can’t see anything stopping me from using these for other early 16th century ventures… Ones that come to mind are painting some up as English and Scots for some border reiving, or, using them as a basis for French or Italian troops in the Italian Wars. Look ace facing off against some landsknechts at Pavia in 1525!!
Exactly, Border Reivers is what I’ll mainly be buying them for . Also the Osprey Pavia book is probably my most well worn. They could also be used as warhammer fantasy estalian or tilean troops.
Hopefully they’ll scale well against the plastic Warlord miniatures of that period.
Very nice! And I like how they included enough alternate heads so that you can build them as either historical conquistadors or Freeguild infantry men for AoS. These guys do think of everything!
definately looking at the conquistadors, in plastic, i may actually get them built and painted. Well done WA on this.
Nice.
Yaaaas I’ve wanted, nay needed plastic conquistadors for ages
I’m liking WA’s approach to public consultation and making the commitment to producing what we say we want. These came out top of their initial consultations and I’m super excited about the Aztecs. Next I’m looking forward to the possibility of some Trojan Wars.
