Battle For Glory In Warcry: Red Harvest Coming This Weekend
November 1, 2021 by brennon
After a host of previews and portents, the next step for Warhammer Age Of Sigmar: Warcry was revealed. Games Workshop are going to be offering up Red Harvest for pre-order this weekend, allowing you to dive deeper into this Fantasy skirmish game.

Warcry Red Harvest is set beneath the shadow of the Varanspire. Across those blasted plains, warbands and their enslaved foes mine the realmstone known as varanite which can be used to twist and mutate those who touch it.
This then presents the setting for a new clash between two warbands. Set in and amongst an abandoned varanite mine the Tarantulos Brood are seeking to claim every last morsel of it so they can further mutate their bodies.

I'm surprised that it has taken Games Workshop this long to introduce something spiderific into the mix for the Chaos warbands of Warhammer Age Of Sigmar. The miniatures do look very cool though and I like how they've managed to work that arachnid aesthetic into so many elements of their dress and weaponry.
These worshippers of spidery monstrosities are seeking the varanite so that they can become more like their scuttling deities. Why would you want to just have four limbs when you could have eight and do twice as much work and/or killing? A neat set of miniatures which I can already see being cannibalised to use alongside other kits and in the grimdark of Necromunda.
Arrayed against them are the Darkoath Savagers who are frankly just there to pick a fight. Like many worshippers of Chaos, they pride themselves on strength of arms and the glory won in battle and so that influences their look and style of fighting.

If you were looking for more classic-looking Marauders then you've got them with this set. There is a good mix between male and female sculpts in the set and they all have an array of dynamic poses and weapons to choose from too.
The Darkoath Savagers aren't all about brutality though (although it occupies 90% of their daily lives) as they also have a Shaman/Seer as part of their warband who no doubt guides them towards their next target.
The eagle-eyed amongst you will also have noted the particularly Conan-esque miniature that this set offers up to. I can see a lot of people clipping out the particular bits that make him and offering those up on eBay.
Both kits are looking great and give us another window into the multifaceted worship of Chaos. The big four (or five if you include The Horned Rat) have many ways of bringing their worshippers to their side and there are plenty of lesser powers out there, seeking to draw more power from their faithful followers.
As well as offering up new ways to play Warcry (all you need to play is included in the box), you'll also be able to use these in your games of Warhammer Age Of Sigmar too. I am eager to see the more Darkoath-focused armies that come to the tabletop now we've got these.
Are you going to be weaving your web around this one?

“Conveyor belts: not only in your scifi setting!” XD
It looks more like a log flume type of thing?
Different but still the same 😉
“0 Days Since Last Accident”
It is all happy little accidents…
Great new figures to add to game’s.
Those are some nice looking warbands. Funny that one of Savagers is straight up Conan.
It’s “Conan … with extra skulls” 😉
Screw the warbands, I want that terrain!! I’ve never seen industrial-fantasy terrain before, at least not in this setting.
Do you need to pre-order? I believe all the War Cry boxes eventually make their way to retail. At least I do not remember a box that was not available unless it had some exclusive on it and this one does not.
Yes this is an amazing box. Two great looking warbands, just look at the abandoned varanite mine it like a Choas themed adventure park with rides ready to rip of limbs if you dont keep them inside the car at all times.
I really don’t need another Warcry box set as I already have the original Starter set and Catacombs… But that terrain looks great and I really like the Darkoath savages. Even the spidermen look cool and would make great primitives for any pulpy jungle RPG. Warcry and Underworlds warbands are some of the best minis GW do. The variety makes them interesting to paint and if you happen to run a Soulbound RPG campaign they provide you with excellent villains and PC’s (you can’t call them heroes when they are as bloodthirsty as the bad guys). Given that the price… Read more »
