The War Of The Worlds Hits Kickstarter In Tripods & Triplanes

March 18th, 1918: the nearest approach of planet Mars to Earth. The First World War suddenly changes into a War of the Worlds, when what appears as a meteor shower falls over a wood in Alsace.
A few hours later, just after dawn, an army of giant alien fighting machines appear out of the trees and starts burning villages and houses with their lethal heat-rays, leaving pestilential trails of black smoke behind them.
A truce is hurriedly signed between the warring nations and, against the advancing Martian tripods, the best war machines on Earth are dispatched, manned by the most gallant and skilled warriors of our planet!
Ares Games is on Kickstarter right now with their exciting take on the War of the Worlds in Tripods & Triplanes: The War Of The Worlds In Wings Of Glory.
The game is fully compatible with their successful Wings of Glory range and allows players to play as either the alien race or humanity as it defends itself against the trespassers. Each side allows for a unique gaming experience as the abilities and tactics are a bit different.
Because the game is set in the Wings of Glory universe and rules set, it is basically ready to play, right out of the box and utilises their clever manoeuvre decks.
The real question is, will you be playing as humanity on Earth or the Aliens?

Tell me that there is a Thunderchild stretch goal
Unfortunately it would be to small, as this game is 1/144th and AQMF is big 15mm, 1/100th+. Hopefully Ironclad Games will eventually produce one. They have released a few of the models that were slated for release but never made it out originally.
how is 1/144 too small for a ship? i have 1/3000th scale ships?
I assumed he was wanting a Thunderchild land ship for All Quiet on the Martian Front as it was not released. AQMF is a slightly large 15mm game so 1/144 would be to small.
Oh god yes, I mean I never even looked twice at Wings of Glory… UNTIL NOW!
Those Tripods are looking good. Loving the gold / brass paint job.
Just an FYI on FB they stated that one of stretch goals planned is to allow you to use the WWII base game with the Tripods.
that reminds me: what happened to “nothing new on the martian front”?
It was acquired by Ironclad Games and is as far as I know still going strong.

I’m not sure how widely distributed it is these days but I have seen post acquisition product here in the US.
Scratch the comment below then, i had never heard of it getting picked up.
the tripods look great.
