V&V Miniatures Cast Stones With New Dark Age Irish Slingers
July 12, 2021 by brennon
V&V Miniatures has updated their 28mm Dark Age collection with some new models for those who like their Irish. There is a new pack of Irish Slingers in the mix who are seeking to knock some invaders on their arse.

This set might come in a little more expensive when compared to the wealth of plastic options out there but it does give you some characterful sculpts. They would make a good fit for the likes of SAGA, perhaps as young fighters who have been drafted in to help the clan.

I like the rough and tumble look of these particular miniatures. They might look nice dotted in and around a full plastic unit just to give you a point of difference. I like the idea of them perhaps looking a little shorter or taller in places to give the appearance of a rabble.
If you're building a Dark Age Irish force would you consider these resin miniatures from V&V?

Stone the crow’s they are great looking I’ve always considered slingers as an middle eastern unit.
Evidence for slings is found all over the place including the Uk and Ireland.
There were some areas that were well known for the quality of their slingers in the ancient world such as the Balearics.
Ooh nice probably the film’s falt European battles have archers every time.
Those look excellent as the ‘young members of the tribe” turning out for some missile support. I think they would work for many geographies and periods. Love the figure kneeling down to pick up their next cobble-stone! Would make a nice figure in a David v. Goliath vignette. ?
No Gerry slinger ?
I thought there’d be at least one in every Irish unit by law …
