Victrix Working On New 28mm Dark Age Early Saxon Warriors
May 23, 2023 by brennon
Victrix Miniatures are heading back to the Dark Age with an upcoming set of plastic miniatures. Early Saxon Warriors are on the way for you to use in your 28mm Historical wargames. See if you can kick the ass of some Late Romans!
Early Saxon Warriors // Victrix Miniatures
So far, we've seen the Warriors for this set but you'll also be seeing a Command option and some Armoured Warriors coming later on down the line as well. Whilst I've mentioned that these are for the Dark Age, they do straddle that line between that and the Ancient era as the Roman empire fell to pieces and Britain found itself very much left to fend for itself.
The miniatures could represent Early Saxons, Jutes, Angles and Danes that were invading Britain during the time as well as beating up a lot of folks over on the continent as well. You've got plenty of warriors to use when looking to battle against the Romano British for control of the Isles.
Plenty of attention to detail has been paid to arms and armour. You've got smaller round shields for example which were used for parrying and punching. You've also got javelins for tossing at the enemy as well as spears, swords, axes and seax for when the fighting gets up close. You won't be seeing shield walls just yet.
A Middle-earth Diversion...
I also wanted to highlight a creator that Victrix talked about over on social media. cannibal.ink has been taking some of the miniatures from Victrix and turning them into warriors from Middle-earth. For example, some Late Romans have been turned into the Rohirrim!
Rohirrim Conversions By cannibal.ink
Some brilliant painting and a little bit of conversion work here that works really nicely to represent the horse lords of Rohan. It is well worth having a look at some more of the miniatures painted by cannibal.ink over on their Instagram page. You won't regret it!
Are you going to be snapping up some of the Early Saxons when they get released later this year?
