Victrix & Mongoose Team Up For New Fight For The Skies
June 4, 2014 by brennon
It seems like the minds of Mongoose Publishing and Victrix are going to come together to bring you a new World War II air combat game for the tabletop! That game is Fight for the Skies!
The game looks to be played in 15mm with Victrix supplying the models and Mongoose supplying the rules. There should be more information popping up about this as the weeks roll on but the rules should be out towards the later end of 2014. This certainly sounds pretty epic!
I do like a bit of dog fighting (still remember playing Achtung! Spitfire on the Mac) and Victrix make some amazingly good looking miniatures so you should have a fairly awesome range to fly with.
Will you be keeping an eye on this?

Tow of my favorite WW2 planes, even if the Stuka was kind of a “flying turkey,” especially by the time this model came out. 37mm autocannon pods, baby! This was the plane top Stuka Ace Hans Rudel made his most kills in.
And of course, what’s not to love about the Typhoon? Want to see “mighty” Tigers and Panthers scurry for cover like roaches? 😀
*Two. 🙁
Typhoons packed plenty of punch but to be fair Allied ground attack aircraft had an easier time attacking German ground forces as the Luftwaffe had severe constraints on flying – fuel shortages and lack of other resources for example.
Rudel flew under greater threat from Soviet aircraft. He is credited with bringing some dwon and possibly contributing to the loss of one famous ace.
Just be glad the Thanksgiving turkeys don’t arrive with twin 37mm guns…
If they use a similar move mechanic system (template based) as FFG did for X-Wing then I might be interested otherwise I shall admire the models from afar.
If you were going to release a WW2 air game why as nice as the models are start with a Stuka and a Typhoon
I think we shall stick with out WW2 conversion of Blue Max
Compatible with Flames of War, Battlegroup Kursk etcetera (1:100 scale). And these two are just the beginning!
More news on the Victrix site today – a lot more coming in future – 2-engine and 4-engine as well as dogfighters
AR5E – forgot to put on a link…
