Victrix has been tinkering around with all manner of fun Dark Age kits for use in your Historical wargames. One of their most recent previews is for the Varangian Guard who popped up earlier this week, a mighty force of mercenaries for you to use as far afield as Byzantium.

Varangian Guard - Victrix

Varangian Guard // Victrix

We've only got a few miniature previews so far for the Varangian Guard but they are looking awesome. I really like the armour design and the classic HEAVY dose of detail that you get from the Victrix kits. With these warriors being essentially individual soldiers rather than a host of rank-and-file clones, it makes sense that they would all have a little something different about them. I absolutely love the chap with the eyepatch!

This is the only set of previews for the Varangian Guard right now but it will be fun to see where Victrix go next with these. I reckon we're in for a treat when this large plastic set lands complete with Command figures (fingers crossed!).

Early Saxon Warriors

Going back in time a little bit, it should also be noted that the Early Saxon Warriors have now been finalised and folks should be getting this plastic kit during the first portion of 2024.

With both unarmoured and armoured variants for you to choose from, this should make it fun to dive in and create your Early Saxon armies that might have been fighting during the period of Beowulf.

It's certainly looking good for those who are wargaming in the Dark Ages! Having access to more plastic kits is great and these miniatures can also be used for doing a whole bunch of kitbashing should you want to go down the route of making Fantasy armies.

Will you be snapping these kits up in 2024?
