Victoria Want Your Opinion on Upcoming Bolt Pistol
December 7, 2014 by dracs
Victoria Miniatures are looking for people's opinion on a new weapon option they will soon be releasing, a a Guard Bolt Pistol.
The aesthetic difference between these two options is small, but in general I like the look of these guns. I really like revolvers and these scifi versions look like they'd pack a punch. Either that or they are nerf guns.
Victoria have a wide range of weapon options and it is encouraging to see them producing more and asking for feedback on their designs. Personally, I would go for the one with the prominent grip on the cocking mechanism.
Which of these two guns do you prefer? What weapons do you want Victoria to make?
Its a lovely design either way, but personally I’d go for the first one. The unnecessary detail on the second draws the eye away from the beautiful design of the revolver mechanism.
Neither, nowhere to put the ammo, the cylinder should be bulked out so it looks as if it can hold more than 2 shells.
It’s a nerf gun… I mean for realz.. those are close copies of a nerf gun.
Eeyup. It’s a nerf gun I own too :/
A Maverick to be exact.
This looks intriguing and will probably paint well given the amount of detail, but from a firearms or engineering standpoint, it is pants. No worse than many of the other offerings from the sci-fi games designers around the world but pants nonetheless. There are so many wrongs it is not worth listing them – sorry to be blunt guys but it is honest criticism.
Not a fan of either unfortunately, which is a shame, because I can see someone has put some effort into them.
Looks too much like a toy rather than gun that soldier in future would use.
Ditch the slide ( top gadget at the back ) it’s a revolver right ? so that’s not needed,
Have a look at some real stuff like the Chiappa revolver rhino and work your ideas round a real firearm.
But if you look at real firearms, you end up with a gun that’s indistinguishable from fifty thousand other guns. Oh look, it’s another clone of M4, how exciting.
I’d disagree, get the basics right and understand a little as to why it’s done that way will still leave you with loads of room to come up with an imaginative design that looks like it’d work and of course look great. But hey each to their own.
… never let realism get in the way of a good design 😉
It all comes down to personal taste as to what is a good and bad design though eh ?
all guns must have 15 barrels to be realistic (@ . @)
… it’s the law
… and they must be hello kitty brand with pink ribbons, and lipstick for bullets 😛
… I bet a nerf gun is sounding more appealing now, right ? 😉 ha ha ha
Well I’d rather it be that then what it is now. A clone of a nerf gun.
both versions look pretty good to me 🙂
might be cool to make the barrel a bit more of a bulky pipe shape, instead of a nozzle 🙂
that would work well with version B I think 🙂
I like the idea of a barrel poking out of the front. Of course, why use a pistol or rifle at all when swords are so much more effective :-).
… everyone knows swords have a longer range than sniper rifles 😉
Then it must have a bayonet! No, a stealth bayonet! Then you don’t even need to add it to the mini, just to the fluff :-).
About those lipstick rounds: I’m guessing they would be HESH, as they would suck as kinetic penetrators, unless they make lipstick out of depleted uranium in the future… doubtful. We should keep it realistic and leave the lipstick as a ‘squash head’ round.
cherry candy … hollow point cherry candy 😉
… with glitter lip gloss grenade launchers, and built in compact mirror 😀
The glitter gloss could also act as a chaff round, to confuse a sword with a homing ability. You’re brilliant lol!
… don’t forget the hot pink blush powder camouflage kit,
no urban cammo is complete without a splash of rouge 😉
If I had to choose between the 2 I’d say B, because it has more pzazz! But ‘neither’ would be my preferred answer because they look nothing like the ‘original’ 😉 If you are going for a ‘Victorian’ look OK, but if you want a more generic look then they should be even chunkier with thick magazine (not cylinder) and plain barrel. These are both trying to look like plasma pistols to me!
I know from the thread on Dakka that they wanted to go down the revolver route and that’s cool.. but there aren’t many things you can do to a revolver that change the profile without it ending up looking like a toy. Personally, I’d have taken a 1911 and fitted a toilet roll tube over the barrel. Say it with me, folks:
City Hun-tah!
Why take one cylinder into a firefight when you can have three?
Man I loved that gun..

You know what? That picture isn’t epic enough. Here’s a better version:

Put in a search for .50 cal revolver, or .50 cal pistol or .60cal pistol and you will see what the real McCoy looks like – they come in all shapes and sizes (mostly LARGE) but the point is, they function. And if you want them in glitter pink, I am sure the nice manufacturers will do it and charge you a premium price for them.
