Van Saar Expand Their Necromunda Operations This Week

Necromunda is expanding once more with some new offerings for the Van Saar. They are expanding their operations with a whole bunch of new miniatures that are equipped with an array of technology that would make the Adeptus Mechanicus blush.

We start with the Van Saar Champions set which offers up two characters. The first of them is wearing Mesh armour whilst the other is clad in Flak Armour. They each come with some different weapon options for melee and ranged combat and look suitably badass. It feels like they may have "cheated" bringing all this equipment into the Underhive.
They can be used as the Augmek or an Archeotek in your gang, giving you some neat new options to play with. You also have this fellow, the Van Saar Champion In Carapace Armour With Cyberachnids.

Not only does this Champion bring a lascannon to the tabletop (yep, a freckin' lascannon) but is also accompanied by three Cyberarchnids. These mechanically augmented exotic beasts can easily run through the tight hallways of the Underhive, dropping down on their foes and taking them down with a dose of toxic venom. Another cool tool to have in the arsenal.
When I said that Van Saar were cheating, I meant it. They also have this, the Van Saar Arachni-rig. I mean...how is a Goliath meant to take this down without a lot of very choice hammering?
Van Saar Arachni-rig // Necromunda
You can build this rig with either light or heavy carapace armour and a mass of different guns. It has rad and plasma guns for melting people and those crushing servo-arms for getting up close and personal.

Time to just set the explosives and blow the entire room that this thing is in rather than take it on head-on. A rather cool miniature though I'd say and one that has a lot of conversion potential. It is interesting seeing Games Workshop doing hyper Sci-Fi with the Van Saar, really taking them to the next level compared to previous incarnations.
Are you going to be picking these up for your Van Saar gang?

This ain’t ya Dad’s underhive!
Ooh battle spider’s it may just be me but the first thing that popped up in my head seeing the arachni-rig was (Danger Will Robinson Danger) fab figures does the dreadlocks have skills?
Oh no it’s the massive Van Saar walker! Quick, run down this narrow corridor!
Out of context it’s a great model, in context it’s not really suited to an indoor ruckus?
Overthink things? Don’t mind if I do!
Well it’s Necromunda so I’d say you have everything from narrow corridors to open spaces.

It’s a tremendous table but does illustrate my point. That suit is tactically limited
Sure but maybe it can climb (don’t know the rules) or his smaller friends chase the enemy into his guns 😉
But it’s GW so it’s rule of cool over realism
Hehe the “r” word. I’ve fallen into that trap again ?
I over all dig how Van Saar look and these ones are also great looking miniatures.
You know, I had been thinking about how Van Saar minis always made great Dune Fremen miniatures, but I think they’re taking them in a different direction here.
This looks like Spyrer tech. Am I right in thinking that the new edition hasn’t gotten to Spyrers (yet)?
Correct… there are still a surprising # of those very fringe gangs not yet out… although yeah.. at this point, how much more tech savvy can Spyrer get than these elite Van Saar? lol
Now that we see the rest of the Arachno-Rig and the layout of the legs, as well as the extra blast shielding covering up the pilot,it seems a lot better than it did with that initial tease and actually seems like a proper war machine. …Even if it is still a bit warjack-esque.
@sundancer Does foot on girder count as foot on rock?
It depends. Does the girder show the authority of the figure in question, or does it just happen to be there?
Not very “underhive” or “gang” looking (more like a proxy for Eldar is anything), along with being kitted out with gear that the Imperial Guard or even Space Marines would like to get their hands on. Alas with the recent book for the Van Saar gang, they’ve become rather overpowered compared to all the other gangs (the last three campaign we’ve ran have had ALL the Van Saar gangs placing at the top of the leaderboard (and the poor old Delaque have placed last even with the new book for them). The new book gives Van Saar cheap bionics (to… Read more »
