Turn to the Darkness of the Dracula Untold Trailer

A trailer has appeared for the latest film adaptation of Bram Stoker's famous vampire. Get a glimpse into the origins of the greatest blood sucker of them all in Dracula Untold!
The trailer opens with a narration telling of how sometimes a hero isn't what's needed. Sometimes, you need a monster. And let's face it, there are few cooler monsters than Dracula.
The story tells of Dracula standing against the forces of the Ottomans. The only hope he and his people have to survive lies with the dark powers offered in a deal with a horrific creature of the night.
From the looks of this trailer, the film will be approaching Dracula as an anti-hero instead of a villain, and it promises some pretty cool action scenes. It reminds me more of the fantasy versions of vampires we see in tabletop gaming more than it does Dracula, but it does look like it could be a pretty fun film.
Are you going to go see this one?
Oh yeah , like the look of this one. Thank god for CGI bringing the world of fantasy to life….
or unlife……….
Looks like it could go both ways to me. Pretty sure to give it a chance though.
Oh, no. Latex armour. That can’t be good. But the trailer looks fantastic. Lots of good swordplay and FX.
I believe the guy who coordinated the stunts and fight scenes had previously worked on the Dark Knight Rises, so should be good.
This looks likes it’s based loosely on the historical Dracula, so I have one question; where’s his moustache?! Vlad had an epic tache.
Aaaaand let the butchery of history commence (and no, I am not talking about the injection of vampire mythology here). I find it amusing that the trailer goes so far as to casually refer to the Ottoman Empire as an ‘evil’ that apparently justifies the lead character making his faustian pact with a somewhat worse for wear Tywin Lannister, while seemingly ignoring the fact that the christian cultures of the era were no better, and that while Vlad Tepes may be viewed as a hero in some parts of what is now Romania even to this day, the historical accounts… Read more »
Should be a good action film if nothing else but look good at the moment.

So when will my Vampire Counts get a bat related giant fist ‘O death spell then? 😉
I do see your point – it is much more a fantasy action peice than it is in the vein (excuse the pun) of traditional horror.
He may have stolen it from (IMOTEP) I think that’s how it’s spelled.
First you summon the bugs, then the bats come to eat the bugs – makes sense. At least it gives them something to talk about. They can bond over their respective woes. Drac thinks he has it bad, but he just had to drink some some (admittedly rather gross) blood – poor old Imotep got entombed while still conscious and then eaten alive by insects. You know what this means of course – the next film should be a road trip buddy movie. Two immortals going out to paint the town red and discover the true meaning of friendship, freedom… Read more »
Colour me interested but I’d have preferred a proper movie treatment of the life and rule of Vlad Tepes like they did for Ghengis Khan with MONGOL. Vlad is a fascinating character and worthy of a movie alone without being forever linked with the supernatural overtones created by Stoker.
They may go the other way Imotep v Dracula to the undeath.
