December 15, 2020 by brennon
The folks at TTCombat have offered up a new version of the Dropfleet Commander rules for free. You can download them right now HERE and have a peek at the new layout and tweaks they have made to the game.
Dropfleet Commander Rulebook // TTCombat
This digital version of the rulebook has been designed so that it is perfect for digital viewing and is packed with hyperlinks so you can follow through on things you have questions about. It has also been reorganised to make it easier to browse and whilst it doesn't come with all of the scenarios they are looking to produce a separate document with them included.
This is just the first draft of the document and so it will go through some changes but it does give you a chance to have a read of the rules and see if the game appeals to you. If it does then you can then go and explore the full Dropfleet Commander Website and their miniatures too.
UCM Battlefleet // Dropfleet Commander
There are a number of Battlefleets available for you to take a peek at already including the daring UCM as shown above and the very alien Scourge who took over Earth and made it their own.
Scourge Battlefleet // Dropfleet Commander
Dropfleet is a fun game and it's well worth exploring more about it. We have plenty of content on the game in the Dropfleet Commander section of our website so if you're looking for Let's Plays and the like you've got a good starting point.
If you were on the fence about Dropfleet Commander then a free rulebook is a perfect excuse to see if the game works for you.
Are you going to be giving this a read?

I’ll check if it’s updated. Lovely game. Got a game in again a few weeks ago and immediately decided to get my UCM painted up fast.
Nice to see DFC still going strong.
I backed the kickstarter and have two fleets built, have never played a game, really need to drum up some local interest!
We had quite a few people pick this up in our local club but we found the game played too slow and so eventually interest died out. I hope the new rules have streamlined it so you can get more than a couple of turns in in an evening.
They seem to have changed bits and bobs, but the biggest drag, the ground combat among EXCITING paper tokens that decide your space-ship game is still there. I sure love having my spaceship game decided by whose paper-token tanks win on the ground. Honestly I sometimes feel like they had the wrong idea and should’ve given me paper ship tokens and just a handful of Dropzone tanks and infantry to use as ground unit tokens seeing as they are far more important.
Yes! Hopefully this is the shot in the arm this game needs to get people playing. TT-combat don’t seem to have offered it the live it deserves!
It wont get a shot in the arm that it needs, until it gets better distribution.
You literally can not find it anywhere to buy, outside of the UK based TT website. Atleast in none of the “local” shops I go to or even the online stores I use. So no thanks.
Ironically Hawks demise was brought around by logistics/distribution problems and that’s what TT combat were meant to be sorting out when they bought them out. Concur it’s hard to draw in new players if you can’t see the product on the shelf of your FLGS
I’d argue the same thing applies to Rumbleslam and Carnevale (and a dozen or more different games that aren’t in the top 5 community/sales size) …
Niche games like this rarely appear in shops no matter how much we want them to.
Niche games don’t appear on shop shelves unless people go and ask for them. No shop wants to carry a line that isn’t going to sell, so you need to express interest not wait for it to just appear.
I find it quite easy to get TTCombat stuff from online retailers like The Outpost, even if it isn’t listed as in stock.
Nice to see the game get some love and updates like this.
Nice. I’ve had a lot of fun with Dropfleet over the years. Miniatures are some of the best around, except for the ones let down by manufacturing decisions. The game needs to evolve beyond mainly being about taking and holding ground objectives. The orbital layers and creating an easily playable landing mechanic were quite innovative at the time, but focusing every game around it just isn’t interesting.
fantastic idea
