Troll Forged Sneak Out Stealth Swarm Production Casts
October 5, 2014 by dracs
The alien swarms of Troll Forged Miniatures continues to spread with the appearance of the Stealth Swarm Production casts being the latest of these gribbly creatures to appear.
These Stealth Swarm miniatures follow on from Troll Forged's practice of drawing inspiration from insect life. Here we see elements of the praying mantis, nature's most stealthy assassin. As such they definitely look the part, although the flat, almost two-dimensional heads Troll Forged have sculpted still look a bit out of proportion with the rest of their body to my eye.
Do you expect to find this Stealth Swarm sneaking up on your collection?
I like ’em, although they seem to cry out for more limbs!
they look great with those large flat heads, really interesting shapes 🙂
… I think they kind of look like tree bark too 🙂
so they could work well painted up to look like some kind of tree / plant creatures too 😉
… I know they not really meant to be tree creatures 😛 ha ha
but I think they would make great proxys, because of how organic and ” leafy ” the parts look 🙂
the limbs also have kind of a twisting vine appearance too 😉
Army ents? LOL may make an good alterative Nid troop as well.
I like the whole forest themed thing, and may need to include them in a half-elf ranger force I have partially constructed for use in a forest battle scenario in our AD&D campaign. I’ve got some GW wood elves and dryads, and have made my own treants. Not sure what I would call these, or use them as… but I’ll think of something.
well I guess not all plants look the same,
… so maybe there are different types of dryads too 😉
… just a different species 🙂
That is very interesting model. Very insectoid alien like.
Its good to see them finally getting them onto the market as I could see many people wanting such beasts.
