Take a Trip Through the Looking Glass with Infamy’s Alice
January 15, 2015 by dracs
Infamy Miniatures have put out a whole load of preview images to showcase the progress they've been making on the Infamy: Welcome to the Big Smoke minis, most exciting of which have to be the renders for Alice.
Alice is the last miniature to have been unlocked through the backerkit and for her Infamy have come up with an incredibly creepy model. Alice's straight jacket and general downcast demeanor tell a story in themselves, but it's the manipulative presence of Mr Dodgson looming above her that really makes this model uniquely disturbing.
As well as Alice, Infamy have posted developments on some other minis. First, The Big Boss, who we have seen in various WiP stages, is now complete.
This sculpt is an interesting mix of the disturbing and the comedic, possessing a superb level of detail that makes the model both a good collectors piece and an excellent brutish character for the game.
Finally, if you got in on the backerskit you might have chosen to splash out on the mysterious donation box. Different goodies will be heading out depending on how much you donated, the most interesting of which has to be the Flower Girl mini.
So far, this artwork of her perched on the shoulder of a Big Brother mech is all we have to go on, but she's certainly a charming little addition who is not creepy at all in anyway. I wouldn't be at all bioshocked (subtle, eh?) if she proved a very popular addition to the Big Brother model.
Did you support Infamy? What do you think of these peaks of what is to come?

Wow
That looks rather unique.
nice & different
Wow. I wish I’d added these.
She was unlocked a little late in the day for me to raise the money to add her. Definitely a retail purchase for me, though.
What happened to Alice’s legs?
And why has Lewis Carroll become an evil straight jacket?
I believe that is Mr Dodgson, who is already a character and model in the game.
And of course, based on Lewis Carroll –

What is the narrative that makes Dodgson be depicted in this manner.
AFAIK there is no correlation of the game character with the mathematician.
Hence my bemusement.
Have I missed something?
Not so much missing something as looking for something which isn’t there. The Infamy character Professor Hoome is based on Dr Who, but the similarities are minimal beyond the name and the odd spot of inter-dimensional travel. Mr Dodgson owes his name to Charles Dodgson and an association with someone called Alice, that is as far as it goes to this point.
Well that makes sense.
Takes a name of a well known Victorian mathematician and author, associate him with one of his characters, give him a libellous creepy persona and then say that we only borrowed his name.
Fair enough
You can’t libel the dead. Which is why you can claim Charles Dodgson took an “unhealthy interest” interest in Alice Liddell with no fear of a libel suit (unless your claims could be proven to affect his estate). Whilst you can libel the living in fiction, it requires a false and defamatory statement of fact against an actual living person. If the reader would not understand the statements as referring to the actual living person rather than the character, then there is no libel.
Though if you meant you find the character distasteful, that is your prerogative.
