ThunderChild’s Post Apocalyptic Wasteman Is Now Available
January 30, 2016 by brennon
ThunderChild have now released the Rulebook and models for everyone as part of their Wasteman skirmish game! This post-apocalyptic battler looks like a lot of fun and a lot of effort has gone into making the models and even the components look great...
I really like the bottle cap tokens that they use in this game; a nice call back to the world of Fallout! The rulebook is awesome but we also take a look at the different sets of quirky miniatures that you can pick up.
There are plenty more where these came from but I picked out my favourites just to show off the range. All of the models look like they were pulled out of the primordial ooze of a Necromunda Hive City in terms of how odd they are; but I like it!
Did you back this Kickstarter? If so are you now raring to get going with Wasteman and play out some insane adventures?
Let us know below...

Backed this with a friend at KS. the rules are amazing and fun. you can see a lot of love has gone into this game. especially for a one man band. Jason from thunderchild is also really friendly and answers any query with rules, models etc. the flexibility of the rules has meant we are working on ideas from hordes of zombies to a small elite band. I reccomend picking the rules up and just using whatever minis you have to start out. then pick up some of the official stuff as they are simple but dynamic and full of character.… Read more »
I love this game I backed the Kickstarter, which I received a few weeks back. This game is fantastic fun and absolutely ludicrous carnage. The M.A.D cards add a element of random chaos that can’t be accounted for. Just when you’re about to use your mutant armed with a mini gun to blow your opponents trooper away, you opponent plays an alien abduction card and your mutant gets beamed up for a turn. Or you need to get across the table fast just ride the radioactive tornado for a 10 inch boost of movement. The game runs on a simple… Read more »
Backed this one myself, with my goodies in the mail right now and expected to arrive any day now. Rather excited about it. Between the very distinct style of the models, the rules, M.A.D. cards and actual bottlecap activation tokens I can’t wait to get painting on these. Already have some of the older Thunderchild models around that I’ve used for all sorts of random stuff (like Dreadball coach models) From what I’ve been reading online the rulebook is quite the gem, definitely an awesome, perhaps slightly more comedic and chaotic alternative to add to the rulebook library for the… Read more »
I really wanted to back the kickstarter, but I didn’t have the funds at the time.
Perfect time to pick some up 😉
I got my pledge last week. Jason has put together a quality product and marketed it with an extremely well run campaign. The game oozes quality from the beautiful rulebook through to the models themselves. Cleanly cast with little or no flash. Bigger companies take note, it CAN be done. I went in for four factions and will be completing the range when they are all up on the Web store. He also has a large range of single figure packs of monsters and other gribblies which add to the atmosphere and come with stat cards for use in the… Read more »
They were playing this in my local hobby shop, I could just feel my wife’s eyes burning into the back of my head as I took a closer look.
I was a backer on the Kickstarter and i was not disappointed with what i recieved, the minis ooze loads of charm and character, the rulebook is full of interesting “fluff” from the Wasteman universe and has lots of Jasons excellent artwork, like it has been said the M.A.D. cards are just that, adding something truly bonkers when least unexpected, the rules are nice and easy to pick up too
I got to say the sculpts are not the best on the market, but the entire line has a charm that I do like. It looks like a true game meant for a good laugh with friends. I can see myself playing this.
While I know what you are saying about the sculpts, I have to disagree with it. They aren’t as technically proficient as some, but theyre a perfect example of a “CAD is no match for character” school of sculpting.
Personally I think the sculpts are perfect for what theyre supposed to be. No other post-apocalyptic miniatures I’ve seen would really fit in the Wasteman world. Every model.has it’s place!
I regrettably couldn’t back this on KS at the time; but as soon as I’ve posted this I’m off to order me a set! 🙂
To add to the chorus of praise i received my kickstarter pledge a few weeks ago and the whole package is brilliant but special mention to the rulebook, very easy to navigate, full of good humour but more importantly a very simple create you own character section
