Thorin & Co Delve Into The Misty Mountains With Ragnarok Miniatures
September 29, 2022 by avernos
Ragnarok Miniatures have run a couple of cracking Kickstarters over the last year to fill their store with a host of historically inspired fantasy sculpts. Now the latest of these are available on retail for those that missed the campaign. I give you the Dvergatal Warband, who may seem familiar to many.
Dvergatal Warband // Ragnarok Miniatures
The Warband contains sixteen figures, fourteen dwarfs accompanied by a human mage and a hobbit companion, and they really lean into that Dark Age aesthetic that Colin does so well. When I think of Middle Earth this is what I imagine, not the glossy Hollywood version. Tolkien was trying to write a new English mythology and the conical helms and down-to-earth mail armour is perfect for them.
Dvergr 6 Point Warband
Apart from Thorin and friends there are also two new Dvergr Warbands on the site, a four-point and a six-point version, for Saga Age of Magic. These are great buy in points if you're getting into Saga or other fantasy skirmish games and have a great blend of troop types from the elite Hearthguard through to the wolf-skinned beserkers.
With four ranges available from Vikings through dwarfs, goblins, and the undead Draugr Colin has put together a solid range already that has room to grow and despite being fantastical it has a real-world quality that gives a cohesive theme throughout the factions.
If you're planning on picking up some Fantasy figures you should definitely swing past Ragnarok and check out what they have to offer for your tabletop games.

Isn’t that 1 dwarf too many. They took Bilbo to not be a party of 13.
The set has the usual 13 dwarves (Thorin & Company), Gandalf, Bilbo, plus a “free bonus” Durin Warlord figure. That’s how they get to 16 minis in the set.
Those are really nice.
Great new figures.
I backed this on Kickstarter and absolutely love the figures—I vastly prefer them to the movie-inspired versions from GW. Very grateful to Colin for bringing us alternate visions of these characters, and eager to see more!
