The High Elves Bring Glory To Warhammer: The Old World
January 17, 2025 by brennon
Games Workshop revealed some brand-new miniatures and returning favourites for the High Elf Realms of Warhammer: The Old World this week at the Las Vegas Open. Another army joins the return to The World That Was.
High Elf Battalion // Warhammer: The Old World
We start with the Battalion box for the High Elf Realms which gives you a solid foundation for a new army in The Old World. You get thirty-two Elven Spearmen, thirty-two Elven Archers and two Tiranoc Chariots which can also be built to represent Lion Chariots of Chrace. You can break down the infantry units into smaller units if you wish as there are enough components to give them command options. The set also comes with plenty of transfers for your shields and banners.
Some new rules for the High Elf Realms are available in the Arcane Journal that will come out alongside the release and re-release of the various miniatures.

This isn't required for you to play as the High Elves in Warhammer: The Old World but it comes with an expanded history for the Elves of Ulthauan and two Armies Of Infamy for you to use. They are the Chracian Warhost and the Sea Guard Garrison. New special characters can lead both of those new armies and each has access to new units and some wonderous magical items.
New Forge World Resin Characters
Talking of new characters, one of them is the new Lord Of Chrace who comes draped in the fur of one of the legendary mountain lions, holding a fearsome axe that can cleave even the stoutest foe in twain.

I have always been a fan of the White Lions and I am so incredibly happy that they are coming back in a big way with The Old World. The urge to down tools on other projects and pick up a whole bunch of White Lions is terribly strong.
The second of the new character miniatures from the Arcane Journal is Ishaya Vess, Sentinel Of The Silent Isle. She is a fearsome fighter and the perfect leader for someone wanting to represent the Lothern Sea Guard on the tabletop.

She certainly gives off that piratical and nautical vibe thanks to the eye patch. I like that both of the Forge World Resin miniatures above give you some very different takes on the High Elves, perfect leaders for alternative and thematic armies.
Returning Miniatures
As well as those two new miniatures, we have plenty of returning plastic and metal miniatures from the High Elf range of old. Some classic generals are returning to the tabletop in both mounted and on-foot formats including this glorious Lord and the Battle Standard Bearer.

Plenty of the classic infantry are also making a glorious return including the stunning Lothern Sea Guard that were redone as part of the Island Of Blood box. The Lothern Sea Guard have their own role in your army but you could easily use these as much better looking Spearmen in your army as a whole. Just switch out the shields.

Some of my favourite troops, the White Lions Of Chrace, are also going to be coming back with a fantastic plastic set. These miniatures have been absolutely impossible to get your hands on for a long time and so it's glorious to see them making a return. Goodbye, eBay scalpers!

You can even get the fantastic Dragon Princes of Caledor for those looking to craft themselves an elite force of charging High Elves on the tabletop. The High Elves got themselves so many good plastic kits towards the end of Warhammer Fantasy Battles and I don't think they have suffered quite as much as some of the other Warhammer armies of old in terms of sculpts.

Plenty more is available for you to check out HERE including Swordmasters, Bolt Throwers, Sky Cutters, Phoenix Guard and more. As they said during the preview, if it existed in plastic then the likelihood is that it will be coming back for The Old World.
Some metal miniatures are also making a return including this lovely pair of characters, the Handmaiden of the Everqueen & Korhil Lionmane.

Again, Korhil is one of those miniatures that is as rare as hen's teeth at the moment so picking this up feels like it's going to be a must. I might find myself buying into a High Elf army whether I like it or not. Great Eagles and more are also on the cards so watch out!
Beastman Ambush!
Capping things off for the Las Vegas Open, we also got a sneaky look at a new miniature for the Beastmen Brayherds. Causing chaos for the likes of the Wood Elves, Kralmaw, the Prophet of Ruin shall be leading some of these upcoming rampages.
Kralmaw, The Prophet Of Ruin // Warhammer: The Old World
Skilled in the winds of magic, Kralmaw is a renowned Bray Shaman and the visions gifted to him by the Chaos Gods have led him all the way to Athel Loren. A lovely new miniature for the Beastmen who sorely needed an update or two (please let them update the old Minotaurs!) and a welcome return for this force to The Old World. His little Ungor-esque familiar is perfect too.
This is just some of what Games Workshop has planned for Warhammer: The Old World so watch this space!
