August 10, 2023 by brennon
If you've watched the Warhammer TV series, Blacktalon, or indeed read the various Black Library stories surrounding the Knight-Zephyros known as Neave Blacktalon and always wanted miniatures representing the characters, you'll be pleased to know that Games Workshop has now previewed a new set coming to Warhammer Age Of Sigmar!

The Blacktalons are the assassins of the God-King, Sigmar. They are sent out into The Mortal Realms to hunt down terrible monsters and other threats to Sigmar's domain, swinging the balance for the forces of Order. Most of their deeds go unnoticed and sometimes that's good as they could find themselves dealing a hammer blow to someone others could consider an ally!
Leading the Blacktalons is Neave Blacktalon, a warrior with a mysterious past who finds herself reforged time and again, turning her into a living weapon. Neave's First Mark story is well worth reading, especially if you're interested in learning more about the psychology of the Stormcast Eternals and how they view their lives in the service of Sigmar.

Her miniature looks pretty awesome and showcases her calling out a challenge to her foes, perhaps urging her companions forward. Her old miniature was still pretty awesome but this is a pretty big upgrade and offers a more detailed look at the character.
Acting as Neave's strategist, we have the awesome-looking Hendrick, The Silver Wolf. He is the grizzled veteran of the group and a warrior who has found himself on more campaigns than you can count.

With mastery of all manner of different weapons, he is no less deadly considering his many, many years of service. A great-looking miniature that matches his stoic nature.
Next up, we turn to the sniper of the group, Shakana Goldenblade. Acting as a scout for the Blacktalons, Shakana ranges ahead of the group and makes sure that the way is clear for their approach.

When the fighting begins, she watches from the wings and makes sure that there is enough supporting fire on offer. It's always good to have a sure shot on side, watching your back and making sure that the exit is clear!
Stepping into the breach and acting as the battering ram of the Blacktalons, we have the hulking form of Rostus Oxenhammer. Jovial and brutal in equal measure, Rostus is a welcome ally to have on hand in the midst of combat and back in Azyrheim.

Last but not least, we have Lorai, Child Of The Abyss who acts as the seer of the group and an interesting ally to have on side from the Idoneth Deepkin.

Using her magic, she can reach out across The Mortal Realms and see if the way is clear for the Blacktalons as they head out on their missions. Additionally, she has mastery of water in all of its forms and can use it to crush her enemies should they threaten her or her companions.
There's no particular release date for these miniatures but they are a welcome addition to the Warhammer Age Of Sigmar range. I am interested to see what game they slot into. They will obviously have rules for Warhammer Age Of Sigmar but could they also fit into Warhammer Underworlds or Warcry?

I dig that they are making an effort to raise the profile of characters & units from AOS’ fluff – I’ll certainly be grabbing two copies as I want spares of their bare heads. There’s some ripe kitbashing fodder right there. And you’re right @brennon, these would work really well in Underworlds or Warcry as well as AOS, but just imagine rules for them in Cursed City? A novel twist to the existing paradigm where they could play as an overall much tougher band than the existing Heroes of Ulfenkarn, but one that doesn’t get to rest and instead has… Read more »
They do look good for player’s.
I think the whole being excited about characters things would be great if the was a story involving them that everyone could watch or read. Otherwise it’s just more stormcast.
