Tabletop Art Take Your Minis for a Walk in the Woods
May 22, 2014 by dracs
Tabletop Art have released a new range of circular woodland bases to set your miniatures in sylvan splendour.
Surprisingly, these bases are comparatively minimalistic when placed alongside other such forest bases. But then not everything in a forest is taken up by a tree, and it opens up space for ease of basing the mini.
The bases have good touches of detail that create the forest environment. However, I feel that the it would be possible to create a similar effect with standard basing materials.
Fancy a stroll through the woods?
Wow, this is really an excellent little idea, evidently aimed at utility rather than “shiny awe” factor. What gamer couldn’t use at least a few of these to enhance some miniatures he or she already has laying around? Oh, and extra points for the use of “sylvan.” 🙂
Hmmm… painstakingly applying multiple colours to individual leaves? I don’t have that kind of time… maybe others do. You can buy 28mm scale leaves from Antenocitis I believe (or other from other vendors), and spray them beforehand, or if you’re looking at a bulk autumn leaf basing, I use red pepper flakes and old parsley.
Having said that, I would certainly use such a base for a PC. I’ve bought Tabletop products in the past and wasn’t disappointed.
Oh, I was under the impression they where pre-painted, hence the whole point was to save gamers time. They all look pre-painted on the site.
