Take A Look At New Sylvaneth Models For Age Of Sigmar [Updated]
June 28, 2016 by brennon
Age of Sigmar is gaining some traction now it seems and with that some more buzz about upcoming models. the Sylvaneth seem to be on everyone's mind right now and a few little (very little) leaks came out showing off their new models.
This piece of artwork from Warhammer Fest showed off Alarielle atop some strange beast. Well, from the leaks of the product boxes we've got a better look at her mount which seems to be a big Stag Beetle of some kind. You can see for yourself HERE.
New Images Have Arrived - Check Them Out HERE
Here you get to see the different options open to you with the Spite Revenants and the Kurnoth Hunters who also get melee weapons as well as the ranged ones. There's also a new Branchwych and Alarielle is looking great!
As well as Alarielle we have the Tree Revenants who are this warped mix of Dryad and Aelf combined together as well as the Kurnoth Hunters (my favourites - I love treemen/kin) and then finally the bestial Drycha Hamadreth.
They seem to have gone down the root of the Aelfs being more at one with their forests this time around which I think is very awesome indeed. I can't wait to see what people do when painting these models up.

What do you think of what's around the corner?

Are these a reworking of High Elves or just Wood Elves?
I would assume the proper High Elves – as in regular Aelfs, will also get themselves a rework in Age of Sigmar.
For now however since the Summer Campaign is focused on the Realm of Life they are pulling out the reworks for the Sylvaneth/Aelfs.

The Sylvaneth are something like a mix between the old wood elves and they forest spirits, the old dryads i think will be the common soldier and we have some “wood infested” elfs in there.
Aye they’ve certainly got some warped stuff going on here – very awesome. Reminds me a bit of Pans Labyrinth.
Can’t wait to see them properly and of course how the other races turn out. This is a bit like the Fyreslayers to the regular Steampunk Duardin.
I… Actually… really like most of these (not sure about the Dryad/Dreadnought thing- Drychanaught?- though)!
They’d make great models for a KOW Nature army, but as usual the price will play a factor in how viable that would be for me…
These have to me excited for HD images
These look gorgeous! Paving the way for a fourth AoS army >_<
OMG, please tell me these aren’t replacing the current wood elves! Easily the worst AoS release, and that’s saying something. I just found Dark Sword wood elves, though, so I’m good 🙂
from my understanding, the wood elves are now part of the Aelf, not part of the Sylvaneth. So Alarielle is not part of the wood elves army anymore.
The old way of classifying armies, is gone.
It’s OK cpauls1; so far as I can tell from the Grand Alliance; Order book, the old Wood Elves have become a new faction called the Wanderers – essentially itinerant Aelves akin to the old Wood Elves but having split away from the Forest Spirits due to a partial weakening of their bond to nature. They still have many of the classic units – versions of the Waywatcher hero, Glade Guard, nobles, the guys with the big glaives and the hoods – but haven’t been fully fleshed out yet. These new models are a further expansion of the Sylvaneth range,… Read more »
It does @vetruviangeek. Now that the pics are clearer, there is one model I like: the woman on the bug. If I could get her separately, she would make a great forest spirit. Moot point, really, as the price will be outside my comfort zone. I’ll stick with the Raging Heroes forest spirit thingie.
Exceptional models (Alarielle mainly) wood elves now sylvaneth have great pageantry.
🙂
Muuuussstttt resiiissttt, arghhhh no I can’t, must…. of f**k it, Take my money GW!!!
I know that feeling 🙂
I need better pictures to make full judgement but for now based on what I could see those don’t look so good.

These are seriously fantastic. I loved the new treeman, so these are a perfect fit. This is a nature based army you do not want to get angry at you.
Knocked out of the park yet again GW.
And once again, the loose structure od AoS lends itself perfectly to an army build, based on only the cool models. This will be my third AoS army.
Had it been the ood wfb, I would still be building boring spearmen, or somesuch other.
I think these look fantastic. I’m very tempted to buy.
Ah. Bad copies of the Daikinee Elves from Rackham, then.
Wow, these are stunning! Bravo GW, I think I may have finally made my mind up for an AoS army.
I think they look pretty cool, I’d buy Alareille but id want to turn her into a Necron Empress…
Theres some better images on war of sigmar, links below. The alareille model looks amazing.
I rather like these models. They certainly have their own aesthetic (I have looked at the Daikinee Elves from Rackham Roman mentioned, and to be honest I don’t really see the similarity; these Sylvaneth models barely even count as elves – or should that be Aelves? – anymore. They are hardly conventional elves with a slight tweek to the styling of their equipment), and fit in well with AoS style of playing up the mythic, fantastical approach of a setting dominated by gods and monsters to a high degree. Very much more Asgard than Midgard. And you have to love… Read more »

If anyone sees me buy these before I finish my stardrake, maw-krusha or magmadroth hit me.

Not a fan of the dryad dreadknight or of the giant beetle. The latter could work in 40k as Catachan or some other Death World wildlife, or maybe in an Egyptian themed army (are Tomb Kings still a thing?), but for whatever reason I’m struggling to see it in a Fantasy setting. Guess that just shows how out of touch I am with AoS *shrugs* The Revenants don’t look too bad, although I think the best looking configuration would be the Spites with the Trees’ heads. Dunno why but I think they look better without weapons and the long hair… Read more »
Mental and love them. Can’t wait to see better pictures to make out all the details because there is all sorts going on that the current blurry pictures make it tricky to see.
I only wish somehow the release schedule was quicker, because I’d love to see all factions get this type of new stuff (come on with Skaven!).
Having seen the new images… I still quite like ’em! I can see the Rackham influence @Elromanozo mentioned- kinda like angry-looking Sylvan Animae- which is probably why I like them to be honest…
Perhaps painting them up in a winter-scheme to represent dead and twisted wood being animated by the spirits would look interesting.
Kings of War might not be the best idea in terms of a full army (shudder to think how much that’d cost!) but perhaps a box or two for use in Dragon Rampant?
These could be the first new GW models I actually seriously consider picking up!..
Ow wow. I am blown away by these models! I would really like every single one of them, and I don’t think I’ve ever said that about a model range as long as I’ve been playing!
Is no-one else concerned about Drycha’s… undercarriage?
I haven’t really liked most of the AOS minis, but Alarielle looks amazeballs. I like that they didn’t make her the usual cheese grater bikini model, she looks buff – very godly!
It will all loom good in 9th age as AoS dose not exist
I will happily pay top dollar for these minis they look amazing!
