Survive & Scavenge In The Near-Future In Zona Alfa Soon
November 20, 2019 by brennon
Osprey Games have lots more planned for the future as they also are taking pre-orders right now for Patrick Todoroff's Zona Alfa which is going to be coming out in Januar 2020 (wow, this year has gone fast).
The game's description immediately made me think of something like S.T.A.L.K.E.R, perhaps for the setting more than anything. You will take on the role of a band of bandits, mercenaries and soldiers who are scavenging, exploring and surviving across a post-apocalyptic Eastern Europe.
You will be heading out into the Exclusion Zone to look for artefacts and more, customising your fighters with a range of different weapons and specialities which will allow you to craft your unique heroes (or villains). The game also features rules for campaigns which should allow you to play out more intense fights which are woven into a narrative.
There is a Facebook Page for this game which you can go and check out which offers up a fun look at what some folks have been building for the game.
What do you think?

I see this for a campaign played in the Division setting
Is this a solo play? It kinda of sounds like it may be like you are playing against the game or maybe have a DM sort of role. Anybody know?
Most of the Osprey games are two player skirmish. I’d assume the same of this, but not certain.
Zona Alpha is more story driven that the traditional skirmish where you have X points to put together your war band so IMHO, you can play force vs force yourself and follow along the story line. This in a way is more like Rangers of Shadowdeep or Frostgrave Perils Dark.
Unless something changes, that is how it looks like right now.
So, Frostgrave with guns?
Frostgrave with guns is quite simple… treat the ranged spell as a pistol with different ammo… explosive rounds, incendiary rounds etc.
Rangers of Shadowdeep is an even easier reskin… Pistol = Bow, Rifle = Crossbow.
At a basic level, weapons do damage, the actual nature of the weapon in a skirmish game, or RPG is pretty much irrelevant… it’s all thematic.
Sounds like a strikes back sort of thing?
Really excited for this one. Really love Roadside Picnic & STALKER etc so perfect game for me it seems.
Yes, it was built for two-player skirmish but with the A.I-driven Zone Hostiles that spawn at Hot Spots and Mission Objectives, it’s easily tweaked for Solo/Co-op play. I’ll write a supplement specifically for that next year. It does lean heavily toward narrative games and has a straightforward campaign and advancement system. Hope you enjoy it.
