Studio Tomahawk Teases New SAGA: Age Of Chivalry Armies
October 22, 2024 by brennon
Studio Tomahawk has teased the armies that you're going to be able to play when SAGA: Age Of Chivalry hits the tabletop soon. They clearly heard that Gerry was trying to avoid playing in the Medieval period and wanted to test his resolve.
SAGA: Age Of Chivalry // Studio Tomahawk
Studio Tomahawk has said that they are hard at work getting the books and battleboards together. Over the next few weeks, they are going to reveal one of the SAGA abilities that each of them can use so you get a feel for each of the nations battling during this period.
You've got the English, French, Burgundians, Flemish, Scottish, Bretons, Castilians, Swiss, Germans, Hussites and Condottiere. It's good that some of the core nations are there like the English and the French but you've then got some (some would say) fringe nations that you wouldn't normally expect. Count me intrigued!
Will you be diving into SAGA: Age Of Chivalry?

Hussites and wagons of DOOM!
Saaaaaaaaagaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I will cut them
Say what, now? 🤣
So Gerry… you and I will drop into doing some condottiere for the Italian Wars?
This is not really my period but when Saga does something I need to sit up and listen so Hussites it is and then pondering options on another faction. Landsknechts are probable and will be in a number of these factions but I might just go for the all conquering Swiss. It will be fun choosing.
I am not that interested in that part of history, so I will skip it.
Sounds fair.
Good King Wenceslas, the best Christmas carol – EVER! – though; you can sing and flail peasants from your Hussite WAR WAGON OF DOOOOOOOOOM!
It is odd how you have a lot of companies suddenly focused on a given time span or area of the hobby. Last time you had the world of tanks game which seem to spin into a number of companies doing low model tank games. Now we have knights first with barons war making models with war games atlantic, then vitirix out of the blue moving into that range and now we have SAGA out of the blue pulling up the rear with a move into that space with a range of games and models. They must take years of… Read more »
I don’t understand your point here?
He is saying it would be nice to see more parts of the Middle Ages globe besides “yet again in Europe” covered by publishers and miniature manufacturers, you know like maybe some Tang Dynasty and 3 Kingdoms Korea wars that went down while the Viking era was going on (frankly that would be a more interesting gaming topic for Saga to cover).
Sure, I get that, thanks for deciphering that. I like eastern history as well, I just got back from Japan where I spent a lot of time in castles and doing neat things. I used to play a fair amount of DBA, and my Indian army, my Polynesian army, were some of my favourites – very colourful, different. It’s rather like WW2 – hardly anything gets done (or to the extent of) outside of Europe, too. And many of the eastern battles are great for wargaming. Hong Kong was invaded the same day as Pearl Harbour, very few people game… Read more »
Redscope has another point:
It seems like there are a few companies releasing or announcing stuff for ‘knightly era(s)’ at the moment. Especially for the guys in chainmail and tabards with pot helmets and crests on top.
Why is that? Why right now?
On a side note, in true Saga style Tomahawk paint in very broad strokes here supposedly embracing a large part of medieval times up until around or even after the Borgias. A mix of which I don’t know, if I’m a fan of or rather quite the opposite.
Ah, heck! Why not? This is Saga, after all.
No Early Portuguese, who were a major and very successful driving force of the Reconquista, so I’ll skip it as well.
