Studio Tomahawk Jump Into The Adventures Of CONGO
July 16, 2016 by brennon
Studio Tomahawk have delved into the way you play games of CONGO, their new venture, on the tabletop. Filled with adventurous expeditions and more this looks like a game worth checking out in more detail...
This game sends you deep into the Heart of Africa where you will be facing off against cultures and wild animals that those back home in Blighty can only dream of.
Four different factions are represented in the game with the Adventures from Europe, the Sultanate of Zanzibar, the Forest Tribes and African Kingdoms being the focus of the gaming at present.
Games themselves take place with between ten and thirty models a side and you'll be playing out scenarios based on the pages you see above you right here. These are all themed and tell a different story which you'll be investigating on the tabletop. A great way of bringing you deeper into the action.
When the game comes out you'll have access to a nice hardback book as well as the eight adventures printed out as separate 'newspaper clippings'. Additionally all of the added tokens, range rulers, cards and more will be available too.
This sounds like a great idea and they assure us that there will be plenty of replay value in the different adventures you get to start with.
What do you think?

Looks fun, guess there will be models released at the same time as the rule book, but are there any other suggested lines to look at?
this is set in the late 1800’s? Plenty of Victorian and pulp miniatures straddle that time period.
If it requires 20+ figures then Warlord and Perry both do sets of the Zulu wars…
For regular troops you will troops in Belgian uniforms
This is looking more and more interesting. The period / setting is fascinating and the production values of the book and components look great. The game looks like it may be fun to play too.
I really hope they don’t let themselves down by keeping with the pretty dubious language and stereotyping that appeared to be going on with the first announced this.
For now, I’m looking forward to this.
If they can avoid the stereotypes this should be a refreshing game setting to game in.
depends what stéreotypes you are referring to. I’ve played the game – I must say the release is fantastic quality wise. There is a lot to play with and the game mechanics is *very* nice.
