Studio Miniatures Add To Their Sikh Wars Army
July 14, 2020 by brennon
Studio Miniatures has been playing around with their range of Sikh Wars soldiers and recently included a selection of new Historical miniatures for you to use for this period. A range of Officers and Infantry in various outfits are the focus for this week.
Sikh Infantry Officers // Studio Miniatures
There are an array of options for the Officers with two sets on offer wearing different attire. You will also be able to pick up sets of Sergeants and Command elements of a lower rank to fight alongside your troops in battle. All of them are armed with traditional weapons from their culture as well as rifles of the time period.

I really like this range as it is another option for those who want to dive in and play games set away from the classic European conflicts we've come to explore over the years. There were two Sikh Wars which took place during the 1800s and featured clashes between the British East India Trading Company and the British Empire against the Sikh Empire.
Sikh Infantry Marching In Paag // Studio Miniatures
In classic British fashion, we clearly thought that everything belonged to us and so it did result in the Sikh Empire being subjugated but perhaps you can tell a different story as you take up the role of the Sikhs on the tabletop? Historical wargaming to match the outcome of events is always fun but I always enjoy doing a bit of a what-if scenario if I can.
There are a few more packs of miniatures to check out over on their webstore so make sure to stop in and have a peek!
What do you make of these Sikh soldiers?

Indianaaa! Ruuuuuuuuuuuun!
Nice set of detailed minis. Also good to see Studio will be adding a first Afghan war range which is a period I have interest
Sikh Wars are extremely interesting. First Sikh War. It was technically fought between the Surka (British East India Company) and the Sikh Government against the Khalsa (Sikh Army). The Army got so powerful it’s own Government made a deal with the BEIC to destroy the army by basically getting their Generals to cooperate with the BEIC to win the war. Very interesting, the Company had no interest in taking any of their land for themselves, they were already way too stretched and besides the throne was disputed so they would have to deal with that mess plus the Sikh’s were… Read more »
Can you recommend any books @elessar2590, I have been reading the William Dalrymple books about the first Afgan war and the Indian mutiny but I’ve struggling to find anything on the Sikh War side.
Honestly I know it sounds odd but “Flashman and the Mountain of Light” is basically a History book. It’s a pretty neglected period
I haven’t read any Flashman but from what I’ve scanned the write up they look right up my street with that great blend of action, humour and history so will pick that up and start working my through the series, thanks @elessar2590 I agree seems a neglected period considering it’s importance. I’d recommend Return of a King and The Last Mughal by William Dalrymple great reads and both touch upon Ranjit Singh and his legacy in regard of the 1st Afgan War and later mutiny. Thanks again.
Nice well detailed figures.
My brain went immediately to Sikh sword fighting by Sanatan Shastarvidiya once I saw the officer with the talwar.
