Strato Power Up The Firebird 6mm Hardbots Retro Mech
July 3, 2019 by brennon
Strato Minis Studio has added another 6mm Mech into the mix, this time for their Hardbots Retro line-up. Here we have a couple of variants of the Firebird, ready to hit the tabletop.
The Firebird is listed as an advanced and very versatile hardbot. It is fast and agile with heavy armour and big guns too. It can also leap over great distances due to big jet engines strapped to its frame. There are two head options which allow you to customise the Firebird a bit and both are available in the kit.
I think this looks very cool indeed and would be an awesome addition into an anime/manga-themed 6mm force. Standing at around 48mm in height the Firebird is going to be quite the dominant mech on the tabletop.
One thing I would perhaps change is for someone to play with the pose a little to add a little more dynamism into the mix. Maybe have it with gun raised and body twisted as if it's in the midst of the action?
What do you make of the Firebird?

Apart from the head, I like it.
Damn, I likes me a robot
That looks really good.
So what vehicle does it transform into? And is it an Autobot or Decepticon?
?
Looks very Wasp/Pheonix Hawkish from Battletech.
Yes, it looks an awful lot like a Phoenix Hawk for BattleTech, and the name makes it clear that’s the intention. Which also explains the lack of a dynamic pose, which would just confuse BattleTech regarding the facing.
Not a problem seeing as the P-Hawk was the greatest mech ever invented
I certainly thought so, back in my 20s, but as I’ve got older I’m looking for something a bit larger and more armoured to keep me safe on the Hexmap. I’m certainly looking forward to seeing if Catalyst bring back the Phoenix Hawk in a new MWO-inspired design, but I have to say other companies’ “interpretations” don’t interest me much, no matter how pretty they look.
A good looking mech how big is it could it take on a Knight?
I do know that they generally have their minis in 6mm, Battletech Scale. And 15mm. I think their Warhammer copy would be close to an Knight.
I was thinking they could be a interesting new enemy for the imperium and Co to take on for 40K

These would stand about 110mm.
Ooh thanks for that certainly a great looking beast to take on the table.
I see they have some great looking ships for BFG players.
Bit late coming to the party on this one, Have picked up a few of their range in last couple of weeks, and after getting head round convention of name changes have pretty much figured out what most of the comparable mechs are in Battletech.
@shinygame kudos for spotting this one so quickly, passed me by not that gave it much thought at time.
Their Megladon and Bullshark are capable of marauding around the table
The Magmum, should be able to Enforce the peace
the Dreadnought and Ironclad are Awesome
The RockSteady is a bit of Behemoth
I could go on.
