Stonemaier Prepare For Red Rising Card Game Release
March 12, 2021 by brennon
Stonemaier Games are preparing to release their new Red Rising card game soon. Based on the first trilogy of books by Pierce Brown, you will be diving into this dystopian Sci-Fi game where you attempt to chart your rise to power.

The Collector's Edition of the game is available to pre-order from Stonemaier Games right now with a focus on an April release. Beyond that, you'll also be able to check out the retail version very soon as well at friendly local gaming stores and more.

Whichever edition of the game that you pick up (Standard on the left and Collector's on the right) you'll be diving into a hand-management and combo-building game. It plays with between one-to-six players and only takes around an hour to play.
During gameplay, you'll be playing cards from your hand to active them and get their benefit. When a card is played you'll then get to pick up a card face up from a different location or from the deck (face down). This again gives you the benefit of the location and could enhance your end-game points total. In this way, you'll try and manipulate your hand and the tabletop to work best for you. The game has a particularly nice style to it and I like that it fits into a good "slot" on the shelf. If you're a fan of Fantasy Realms, Libertalia and Gugong then this should work nicely!
Have you read the Red Rising novels?
