Steamforged Games Talk About The Future Of Godtear
July 5, 2019 by brennon
Steamforged Games has been getting back to delivering updates about the future of their Godtear project. April's delivery date has been and gone but as with most Kickstarters, the course doesn't run smoothly. However, a new update delved into the current status of the campaign and more.
Here is what they released midway through June...
- Miniatures: Tooling complete. Currently in mass production.
- Rulebook: Design complete. Awaiting cover art before production starts.
- Token Sheets: Design complete. Awaiting production.
- Dice: Design complete. Awaiting production.
- Cards: Design complete. Awaiting production.
- 1 vs 1 Champion Box: Design complete. Awaiting artwork before production.
- Individual Champion Boxes: Design complete. Awaiting artwork before production.
- Neoprene Mat: Design complete. Awaiting production.
- World Map & Poster Design complete. Awaiting production.
This means that their aims to get the game out to backers by August is now not likely. So, things look like they are shifting back all the way to October. In the grand scheme of things, this isn't that much of a delay, and I'm sure folks will still get excited about this when it lands. But, I'm sure the backers of the campaign feel different.
In a more recent update, Steamforged talked about the upcoming campaign system for the game. Turns out it won't be turning up in the core rulebook but instead as a specially printed extra for Kickstarter backers. Others will be able to get involved via a digital PDF later on once the game hits retail.
It's worth keeping an eye on the updates section of the Kickstarter as Steamforged do seem to be talking more about the process and where things stand with their Kickstarters. So, let me know below what you think about these developments.
Did you back Godtear?

Good to see people will get their game with just some small delays.

Nope, given the disaster which was Dark Souls and the fact they have to many campaigns that have not delivered. I see the complains in the comments so I will wait until retail and see some reviews.
no I didn’t back the game heard too many disaster’s from other backers from earlier kick-starters.
hopping this is only a miner setback ill keep fingers crossed thats all this is @turbocooler
Dark Souls Wave 3 is the only ‘missing’ one (or rather : it is work in progress …
I can’t fault a company for having their design teams work on new projects while their previous one is running, because the other option would be to have half their team twiddle their thumbs until the last backer got his goodies.
yep, I didst back it ’cause I think the idea has merit.
And given that we’ve seen several games with this type of setup (hex-based map, small team skirmish) it is always good to have options.
I would have liked to have the campaign system within the core rules, but I understand why they made this choice.
I did back their Dark Souls (waiting for wave 3) and Resident Evil (completed).
