November 27, 2016 by brennon
As a heads up, remember that Steamforged Game' Kick Off! Starter Set for Guild Ball is on the way soon with a release within the next week or so.
Inside the set, you get two pre-assembled plastic teams for both the Brewers and the Masons...
...and you also get all manner of components to make sure starting in the game is as easy as possible.
To give you a run down of everything...
- Kick Off! Rulebook
- Guild Ball Core Rulebook
- Captain’s Handbook
- 3’x3’ Double-Sided Board of the Guild Ball Pitch
- Player Character Cards
- 128 Game Tokens
- Measuring Tools and Templates
- Guild Ball Dice
It's great that it comes with all the tokens and templates that you need and a nice score tracker for each side too. This is going to be a very hard set to ignore picking up!
Will you be diving into their Fantasy Football world?

Any idea about the price, was wondering how it compares to Blood Bowl?
There are more than a few let’s play videos at the Steamforged channel on youtube :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyoajPumow0
The short version : it’s a completely different type of game
I have played both buddy was just interested about the price.
ah, that I didn’t get. 🙁
Looks like it is retailing for $70 USD and on street for ~$60+ in the US.
£49.99 before store apply any discount so normally £45. Stock is selling fast though but it is fantastic value. In theory you need buy nothing else to play. You probably will but not required
Looks like it’s around 70$ US. There is one copy already for sale on Amazon for a fair bit more than that.
Also worth adding just announced yesterday new guilds moving to plastic starters.
Plus a new 25-30 model fantasy game set in a classic fantasy world coming from steamforged. Said to draw on Matt’s love for league of legends and list building
Still have a partially painted butchers team, this does look good …..bloody hell, I don’t need this but it does look good …(sighs) … I am such a hobby tart ……(deeper sigh)
@dags Is this a splash release or an ‘ongoing starter box” ??? (just to sort out my hobby tartness and financial options. (I have a new year resolution starting early, to have a maximum hobby budget per month and stick to it…. not that I really need to …just to regain my self respect)
This is a one-off release designed to be fully playable out of the box. In many ways this is Guild Ball doing the Blood Bowl or DreadBall format with everything you need to play a game in one box. If you want to expand on the teams you can do so by purchasing the standard metal minis.
The Farmer’s Guild will be the first guild to be released in plastic. The format for them will be a full team of six players in a box, followed by a four-player add-on pack.
Thanks @redben. Is there any plan to do re-do older models in plastic (aside from this one off release) ??
redben made a forum post on this and it says all future releases will be in preambled plastic.
Yeah thanks mate, i missed that post, however by future releases does that mean new releases or all releases ie. first season models, that is what I was asking.
The impression I got was that transition the old model to plastic was on the cards, though it would be over time and it might not be for every model.
Just a heads up guys, its already out. It released black friday although most places are already out. Miniature Market had +20 but they are all gone. Bunch of them were up on ebay too but I see most of those are gone too. Maybe this was a early release for the holiday? Either way looks like demand outstripped the supply.
Steamforged have said second run in process I believe back in Jan
Steamforged have said second print run is happening expecting restock in Jan
…… and it is only available UK from the website, and my usual Australian stockists don’t carry it
Damn ………I am disappointed even if my wallet isn’t
@beardragon14 have you tried http://www.nerdvanagamessa.com sponsers of double dodge podcast they are oz based
@dags No I hadn’t mate and indeed they do have it, thank you very much for the info
No worries. Currently hoping the delay with the distributor here is just that a delay.
