Steamforged Games Announce A Return To Guild Ball
January 26, 2024 by brennon
Originally shelved back in 2020, Steamforged Games has announced this week that they are working to bring their miniatures range back for Guild Ball and taking a more active role in the community and the evolution of the game again.

Steamforged Games put together a video this week discussing their plans to bring the Guild Ball range back on a Print On Demand basis.
A Message For The Guild Ball Community
The idea is that they are looking to make the game more approachable to newcomers once again by making the various teams and terrain available as 3D Prints via a partnership with MyMiniFactory. Initially, free STL files will be made available based on Guild Ball's Kickoff Set covering the Masons and the Brewers as well as terrain, tokens and the other widgets that you need. From there, additional files will be made available via MyMiniFactory and delivered to your door by them.
Their idea is not to step on the toes of the Guild Ball Community Project and the rest of the community and their projects that have kept Guild Ball alive since the end of support for the game in 2020. The community has and is being consulted to make sure that they don't split the community or take things in a direction not wanted by the player base.
In that spirit, Steamforged Games also held a Q&A this week hoping to answer some of the questions people have about their path forward...
Guild Ball Community Q&A
The response to the news has been mixed but after looking through the comments and questions from the Q&A, it seems like a fair few people are happy to be getting the miniatures back so they can build on their teams. Time will tell as to how the relationship with the community projects goes but it seems positive for the moment.
Are you a Guild Ball fan and if so, what do you think of the news?

A way to get my hands on some fine figures and not be raked over the coals on price? Brilliant!
Damn. I knew I should’ve got those figures on fkeabay sooner ?
Great game. Glad to see it coming back with some formal support. It will be interesting to see how the dedicated fans take this. Steamforged didn’t handle the end of production very well, as they admit themselves in the video.
An understandable decision by Steamforged to end production when they did. Games like this will cycle in and out of favour. A beautiful product(including spectacular art) with solid rules that a gamer can play until the end of time …just not all the time. They certainly couldn’t rely on a bunch of rubes to keep buying the same product (or variations thereof) again and again at ridiculous prices so they could never paint or play with them. I was expecting they would return in a few years from now with revamped rules and product (to start the hype again), but… Read more »
Guildball still is one of my favourite games. The apology is there, I won’t comment further, but its there. What it cannot change is Steamforged are still a company with no issues taking advantage of backers and local stores, so not a company that deserves support.
Will keep an eye on it though, hopefully it does positive things for the community. If I fill in a few gaps or not I have not decided
Still have my Engineers but haven’t played in years. Haven’t kept up on the rules but might be worth brushing up on.
Very good!
