Ironsworn is an awesome solo and cooperative roleplaying game from Shawn Tomkin which, at its core level, is entirely free for you to download and play. The game is tied to the Dark Fantasy genre but over the past year, we've been seeing them talk about moving it into the Sci-Fi genre too with Starforge.

Ironsworn Starforge - Ironsworn

This piece by Joshua Meehan was shown off on Twitter recently and it very much captures the look and feel that they want to evoke from Starforge when it finally comes out. This image very much matches the description of the world which was discussed back in 2019...

"Inspiration comes from the workaday tone of Firefly, the isolated suspense of Alien, the desperation and retro-future of Battlestar Galactica's modern reboot, the lived-in aesthetic of Star Wars, the mysticism of Dune, and the cosmic horror and mysteries of Lovecraft."

It is well worth diving in and exploring more of that preview (HERE) as it certainly explores some fascinating concepts for Ironsworn going forward. Just as with the Fantasy version of the game, it will be looking at the solo and cooperative experience whilst also being open to the traditional Games Mastered style too.

One of the interesting changes to the way your characters develop is that they also have to contend with reputation and influence which will change how you interact with characters plus you'll also have access to a ship which will take you into the depths of space.

Are you a fan of Ironsworn and could you be won over by Starforge too?
