The Squats Of Necromunda Get Themselves Exo-Armour!
May 17, 2022 by brennon
The Squats are coming to Games Workshop's Necromunda with some awesome looking new Prospectors digging around in the depths of the Underhive and out on the Ash Wastes. To help them stand a chance against the other gangs, they have got themselves some seriously mighty-looking exo-armour, the Vartijan Exo-Drillers.

These Vartijan Exo-Driller suits have been designed to offer up extra protection at the various dig sites out in the Ash Wastes and also give them the means to fight back too. Designed by the Squat engineer known as Valya Vartijan of the Svardhol mining clan, they are armed with pulverising fists and seismic crushers. Each suit can also be armed with a heavy flamer or a heavy bolter depending on what foe you are expecting to face.

Game-wise, the Vartijan Exo-Driller is a Brute that is only available to the Ironhead Squat Prospectors. Rules for the suit will be included (alongside the rules for the Squats) in the Book Of The Outlands.
I'm not too sure about the miniature. I think it might be the colour scheme but it feels like it looks a bit toy-like. It would be interesting to see one painted in a slightly darker and grimier scheme to see if makes a difference.

I will say that it is very fun that we're getting more Squat and League Of Votann miniatures popping up across both Necromunda and Warhammer 40,000. I reckon I have found the next big project for me to dive into for Warhammer 40,000. It will be interesting to see how much of the Necromunda kit can be transferred over to work within the mass battle warfare of Warhammer 40,000 as well!
Are you going to be going Squat in Necromunda?

I have never played Necromunda, but I was under the impression it was more of an infantry skirmish game? This I find a bit over the top for what I thought the game is about.
Nonetheless, I really like the model. It could easily be used as a proxy in a Forge Father force.
There are often “big guys” in Necromunda although they are few and far between most of the time. I think this is also more focused towards the Ash Wastes (primarily) where there will be vehicles and such in the mix.
Oh, I see. Thanks for the clarification.
I see where the spacemarines got their idea of putting a spacemarine inside of another spacemarine from …
Space marine nesting dolls?
squat in a can … when you want fresh food, but don’t want to eat a whole human 😉
I find this really encouraging for the Leagues of Votaan’s take on the classic Squat Exo-Armour….
Indeed – will be interesting to see how different/similar it looks.
That Exo Suit gives me heavy Contemptor Dreadnought vibe.
Paint it red an call him MAXIMILIAN?
I look at these and just see the chance to have power armoured looted grots
