Spartan Games Grabbing The Halo License For Future Wargames?
February 9, 2015 by brennon
A suspiciously familiar looking helmet appeared in the corner of the Spartan Games website. Now, usually it's a Greek Spartan helm but now it's been turned into a Spartan helmet from the video game, Halo. Is this a sign of things to come?
You can see it highlighted in the corner here and it certainly would be an interesting license for them to pick up. I could see Spartan doing a good job of a smaller scale vehicle based game on the ground or a 28/32mm type skirmish game that brings actual Spartan miniatures and more to the tabletop.
I wrote a piece about there being a Halo Universe wargame a while ago now and it's neat to think that we could see it come to fruition from a great UK company.
What do you think?

I’ve been periodically hitting refresh on Spartan’s Facebook page waiting for the news.
Meeples and Miniatures have a podcast being released today explaining what’s on the way and with Warren mentioning at the end of the Weekender that there was some news coming Monday I’m really hoping it is Halo and not just a 28mm Firestorm Planetfall game…
So big Covenant army against big human army? But, but… It’s not Halo…
There are a few lads at the club that will freak out, in a good way, if this happens.
i dont think its going to be planetfall spec ops being announced as its a stretch goal for there modular wargames terrain system which went up on kick starter
If this results in some accurate ~28mm ODST I will be very happy.
i would like a 28mm ODST or spartan skirmish game and a 10mm Mass combat game
Halo was originally going to be RTS game similar to Myth series so I quess if there is going to be miniatures game then it’s fitting.
Not my cuppa personally, but I know a few people who would be extremely happy about this, so for them – I hope it is true! Seems a lot of big licenses are being picked up lately, AvP, Terminator ect I think it’s a good thing generally as it taps into those huge audiences and exposes them to wargaming!
And confirmed –
“Neil Fawcett, Creative Director, Spartan Games said “Our design team are huge fans of ‘Halo’ and this opportunity is the icing on the cake for them. After six years of successfully creating our own games and models, we can now work with Microsoft to bring epic ‘Halo’ spaceship battles to gaming tables around the world. And if that’s not enough, we’re making fast and furious ground combat games as well. Hard to tell what is more exciting: invading Reach with our Covenant Fleet or assaulting ground defences with Spartans and UNSC Marines?”
