Spartan Games’ Firestorm Planetfall Gets Painted Up!
June 19, 2014 by brennon
There's still no hard and fast release date for anything coming out of Spartan Games for Firestorm Planetfall but the fact that a few of their miniatures are now getting painted up is a good sign! See what you think of the Dindrenzi and Terran Command Vehicles below...
Both are looking very cool indeed and especially those Terran vehicles rolling up alongside that huge piece of kit. The idea of fighting a massed battle game in this scale with sci-fi vehicles appeals a lot more to me than their spacefaring does and I can't wait to see the selection of troops, walkers and tanks they bring to bear on the battlefield.
A while back there were images of this all over Studio Sparta but it seems that side of things has vanished into the ether. No word on when or how this will appear but I reckon this will be a big success.
Cool right!

I like most of the stuff from SG. This will be a good game but I was told that its only going to be sold on the web store from a retailer.
I brought into this game when it first came out a couple of years ago…..I love all Spartans stuff…IMHO they are perhaps one of the best miniature and games manufacturers in this country. I know that Dystopian Wars has been a huge hit ….and takes a lot of Spartans time to fuel….I just wish they would stop teasing us with all this other cool stuff! I hope we see this range soon as it will make a great addition to the Firestorm universe. I remember seeing production samples of their intended 15mm Firestorm range 2 TO 3 years ago,(very, very nice… Read more »
Oooh. A space campaign that can be extended to the conquest of planets. How cool is that? Love the Firestorm Armada figures. I’m guessing all these will look incredible as well.
So command and conquor erm i mean Planet fall has got some really good things coming at last.
Federation all the way for me that command tanks rail gun looks amazing
Another thing worth a mention is that the bases they come on are all pre textured so all you need is pick a place you want them to fight is desert and just dry brush and you are away!
It looks very good, the designs are pretty sleek and look good – but “hard sci-fi”? I am not seeing any focus or rigorous adherence to known science? Or is there somewhere with more detailed schematics and science articles to read? If so I cant seem to find it.
Hard sci-fi these days pretty much means “no space elves and magic and vague respect for physics as we know”. The word got inflated last 10 years to the breaking point.
I’m not sure about that, Theres still a lot of great hard sci-fi novels and writers out there (Gregg Bear, Stephen Baxter and Alastair Reynolds to name a few) but I must admit I dont follow things like video-games or movies ect so I would have to claim ignorance in those areas.
SG is very good when it comes to creating cool looking miniatures. Unfortunately for me, I’ve found their games to be shallow and pointless. They are in dire need of a game designer that can bring it all together.
I wouldn’t care to judge, but those games do only seem to sell really well for about two years before they move to the next one… Still, they have their fan-base.
