Spartan Games’ Firestorm Planetfall Mechs Spotted Online
August 8, 2014 by brennon
Spartan Games' Planetfall is consistently exciting the senses as we hear bits and pieces about it so when a few snaps of the mechs in the game popped up it was quite the awesome sight!
As you can see these are some fairly massive creations for their 10mm game and they lord over pretty much everything else on the tabletop! One would assume that the top one is for the Dindrenzi and the other is for the Terran army.
Some fantastic miniatures and the game just keeps looking better and better. It will be cool to see what makes the game different from games like Armoured Clash (the Dystopian Wars land based warfare game) and newer games like Dropzone Commander.
What do you think?

They look wonderful! I surely like the ground variant much more then Firestorm Armada… They are not bad, but these are much better 🙂 In term of minis of course. However rules of the Dystopian Wars are little too heavy for my taste, and I probably won’t play this if the rules are based on Dystopian Wars.
I agree re Dystopian wars, after all the enjoyment I had from Uncharted Seas and Firestorm Armada it was a disappointment how it was overloaded. Fingers crossed for Planetfall as the figs look great, well the tanks do, not sure about the mechs.
Looks great, but when is it getting released? Been seeing previews for a long time…
Great looking mechs. Very shiny.
Don’t get me wrong….I love Spartans games….Uncharted Seas, even with all its short falling was(is) a brilliant game……I tend to agree that DW has left me behind a bit as the rules move further away from the tight, simple Uncharted Seas beginnings. Planetfall……I love those mechs..and all the previewed modeals…but when are we going to see some hard ‘new shinies’ in our hands! I have three (old) Planetfall starter sets sitting at home for close on three years now just waiting for this game to take off…and I’m still waiting! The problem is, in my option, these days, with the… Read more »
I have to agree with you bull, I have been seeing previews for years now and that’s it. To be honest I forgot about this until I saw this. Spartan Games needs to do something fast with this or give up. The competition is out and doing a good job already.
While I agree (it seems that it might be out in atumn, though honestly, winter would make more sense, before christmas), I’d rather they polish the release and rules, and have a whole lineup of models ready than do a half-a** job of a release like Armored Clash or Dystopian Legions. For once, it seems they’re doing the right thing and preparing the release instead of trying to shove the newest thing out of the door asap.
Looks good love Mech’s.
These look like a cross between the original GW Epic scale titan layout and MechWarrior though they are more substantial being 10mm scale instead of 6mm. I like them.
SPARTA! Spartan games are exploding lately, the have Spartan Scenics, and they plan on making both a 28mm, 10mm and 6mm versions of Planet Fall. Can it be done? I sure hope so as there does seem to be a lack of 28mm vehicles that aren’t made by GW.
On their Facebook they said the 28mm game is 2015 release, so luckily it wont get in the way of Planetfall release. And…where did you hear about 6mm? Fairly sure it was 10, 15 and 28mm, with 15mm seemingly dropped because it was just too close to 10mm. And the 28mm one is called “Spec-ops” apparently, so i’d not count on too many vehicles beyond an APC or space-jeep?
Whoops, too many games [although hardly any in 6mm on here] so I made a mistake. It did not seem right as I was typing it, but I ran with it. 10mm and 15mm are correct for the invasion scale games. I think it is a wise decision to drop 15mm, despite the wide range of 15mm models. We need more 10mm miniatures.. or maybe just I do.
I have seen finished painted miniatures for this game in both 15mm and 28mm along with all sorts of other stuff….and……like all Spartan stuff… They are excellent. I would put Spartan in the top three of British miniature manufacturers….but we need products in the stores! I would rather they wait with the previews until the ranges at least have a decent amount of miniatures we can buy! I think, at the moment, the whole industry is changing rapidly with things like 3D printing and Kickstarter projects….there is just so much good stuff out there. Spartan do great games……I’d buy into… Read more »
I find it kinda amusing you list Kickstarters as the “rapid-changing” part of the industry when kickstarters generally tend to be extremely over-due with their delivery and seem to be, these days, nothing but glorified pre-order that gives the developer carte blanche to drag their heels. Very much like early-access in video gaming, I see it more and more as a detriment rather than positive force in wargaming development.
I was looking at DZC and PlanetFall.
After seeing that PlanetFall had a couple of false starts already and the next re-launch was “soon” I went with DZC.
Having now seen the giant Mechs I’m glad I went with DZC.
I think those giant mechs look absolutely fantastic and I really want this game to come out. Had my eye on it for a while now.
Haven’t been a 10mm gamer for many many years, but games like DZC & Planetfall make me want too again. Those ‘mechs look awesome.
Mechs look great! I have had my eye on this game for awhile now and was sad I missed out on the starter boxes they were selling. Cant wait for this to come out and give it a go! All the models just look awesome.
I was tempted on getting some DZC, but Spartan Games has proven that my desired loyalty to them is warranted.
I picked up DzC wasn’t overly impressed with it. Was fun for a bit.
I liked DZC the minis were ok, I found many of the smaller ones to be fiddly and break very easily. But I could not get into the whole dropship theme. I wanted to ….I tried …just didn’t do it for me. I could see the option of using dropships but a whole game based around it …just not my thing I guess.
