Snarling Badger Unleash New Skirmish Game, Reign In Hell
May 31, 2021 by brennon
Snarling Badger Studios, formed by YouTuber's Adam Loper (Tabletop Minions) and Vince Venturella (Warhammer Weekly), has now released their new miniatures agnostic skirmish wargame called Reign In Hell!
Reign In Hell // Snarling Badger Studios
Reign In Hell came together during the pandemic last year and evolved into this quick and brutal skirmish game set in the terrifying realm of Hell. Mechanically, the game is meant to be quite simple and easy to learn but it grows in complexity once you get into tweaking and upgrading your warband of Demons before they take to the field.
What Is Reign In Hell? // Tabletop Minions
The game has been designed so that it can be played with small warbands of around ten miniatures and with pretty much any Demon miniatures you can think of. You could go with Bloodletters from Games Workshop or dive into the depths of 3D Printing to find all manner of unique and interesting figures.
Reign In Hell // Tabletop Minions
Reign In Hell can be played as a one-off game where you make a cabal of Demons and unleash them on the tabletop. The game shines once you add in the campaign elements though! Reign In Hell has been designed so you can some friends can play through the various scenarios in the book to see who can come out on top and warp Hell to fit their own image.
Demons // Reign In Hell
Demons can get more powerful and claim mighty titles for the deeds or go down particular paths to unlock special options which make your warband of hellish creatures feel more unique.

With the game available in PDF and Print On Demand (with free PDF) and coming in around the sixty-seven-page mark, it's a pretty nifty tome. As Loper describes in his videos, the rules do seem to get out of the way and make room for the customisation of your warband and that campaign play that takes places through those scenarios.
I could see folks having a lot of fun with this as they dig out lost and forgotten miniatures. Are you tempted by it?

Interesting… though… “one” faction… torn about this one
Demons are so wild and varied that in many ways you can make as many different flavours of “Hell” that you like.
They are but still it’s just “one” race… like a fantasy game just with dwarves… there is something missing… again: torn about this. After all: Blood for the Khorneflakes!
Snowflakes versus Khorneflakes?
They aaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre grrreat!
Ooh nice a great looking game love the fact you can use any figures to play.
I Have ordered the book defo looking forward to giving this a go.
Gawds. They looked at that Viking skirmish game and thought NEEDS MOAR METAL! \m/
Constantine v Demons?
The activation system looks quite interesting. Each player rolls a bunch of D12’s to establish activation. Activation order is random, but you can see when you and your opponent will activate a unit and can plan ahead a bit.
Yeah – the activation mechanic is pretty nifty. Good to see the lesser-used D12 having a place in the wargaming sphere once more!
Both the theme and some of the rules (like activation) seems really cool.
I’ve been reading through the PDF since TM posted the video on the 28th. This is definitely getting added to the rotation of our game group. Six ‘Philosophies’ (factions), each with its own view of what Hell should be.
I’m definitely going to have fun making horrible monsters for both this and my Zona Alfa games.
Haven’t fully decided on my desired play style but I’m brimming with ideas on how to design the models. Now I just need to whittle it down to the ones I’m competent enough to actually make work.
Im not really into demons, but this looks very interesting!
Getting 3 warbands ready and going to run some games a local convention once things open up. The activation mechanic looks like fun!
Hmm, sounds like the spiritual sequel to the helldorado game (lol).
