Skaarac The Bloodborn Slaughters His Way Into Age Of Sigmar
February 6, 2016 by brennon
Forge World have added a creature to the world of Age of Sigmar this weekend. See what you think of Skaarac The Bloodborn who is a monstrous foe for the forces of Chaos and more specifically the mighty armies of Khorne...
He looks insanely huge and when you see the scale photo below you'll see properly. Before that though, some of his background...
"A creature of endless hate and unstoppable savagery, Skaarac the Bloodborn is a beast of venerated legend among the devoted of Khorne. He is said by some to be a fallen Daemon, others claim he is no more than a mindless beast of prodigious power while some claim he is a rogue experiment of the terrible arts of the Zharr, and others yet name him as the oldest and most powerful of the Khorgoraths; a murderous plaything mutilated into being by Khorne’s own hand.
Regardless, Skaarac has rampaged across the battlefields of the mortal realms for uncounted ages, and countless lives have been ended by his savagery, and yet it is not enough."
While I'm not overly fussed for more Chaos this certainly paves the way for other models in the Age of Sigmar world. I can't wait to see what they do for the Stormcast and the Fyreslayers. Skaarac is an utter beauty in my mind and I love the work they've done on the face.
What do you think?

how big is that base? 120mm?
160? yikes!
Not a chaos fan by any stretch of the imagination but man forgeworld do tempt me from time to time with beasts like that.
What a beast!
Awsome miniature.
e
Comfortably the best release for AoS.
If only it looked like the waist could support the torso it had been a pretty good model .. reminds me of the old 2 part metal rat ogres
when i see the words “forge world” only 1 thing comes in my mind, EXPENSIVE
AOS models allready have there HUGE prices, What will this beasty cost ??
Still no urge to gone play AOS, i stick to 8th, or maybe 9th age
Yup. Also, true to form it’s busy, busy, busy. If you’re willing to wait, you can get a far better Creature Caster model that’s roughly the same size, for about a third of the price…

or the Mom miniatures demon for around 40 euros. It’s a bit smaller, but not much:

And yes, GW Minus Minions, it’s also too busy for me. Just pointing out better options.
Different, not better.
The Creature Caster ones I’ve looked at yet they’re all 5cm wide, more or less. They’re just not as dynamic as the Forge World models.
The cost is high, yes, but you’re buying a low product run sculpt so there’s no economies of scale involved.
Personally Warhammer, with it’s ranks of same posed models and fixed blocks was just lumpen. It had hundreds of pages of rules. Far better to do without them and make the game fun rather than gaming the game.
Um…Are you saying Creature Caster will be doing larger runs than FW? Not a valid argument.
CC’s models are huge, but well balanced, with a much small footprint on the tabletop, so things can set up around them. Therefore they don’t need to come with a garbage can lid for a base. 🙂
Love this model, would tempt me to play AOS
No reason to throw minuses at this. I don’t agree with his take, but everyone is entitled to an opinion, even those of us who roll our eyes at GW models these days, and attempt to point out better options.
That armour would make him fit perfectly into a CSM army as a Demon Prince.
a beast.
I think this was originally supposed to be a K’dai model of some sort. There’s been a WIP shot of the upper body floating around the internet for a while from one of the Forge World open days.
Yeah it is
Yep, the K’daii Destroyer which was a horrendously bad sculpt. If they’d cranked this out (minus Khorne runes of course), then I’m fairly sure a lot of Chaos Fwarf players would have snapped it up (consensus over on Chaos Dwarf Online is that this is a vast improvement over the Destroyer).
A lot of us are going to get it anyway, shave off the Khorne symbols, field it as Skaarac but fluff wise it would be a K’daii Destroyer.
It’s also interesting that the Chaos Dwarfs are hinted at in the fluff for this mini so who knows what FW is cooking up for us.
Seems like it takes FW to also make some awesome AoS models. That thing is really nice looking huge demon.
If it weren’t for the price I’d be sorely tempted to get this to be a K’daii Destroyer for my Chaos Dwarfs; would just need removing the Khorne tubes (or altering them into Hashut runes if possible) and maybe a few chains and it’d be perfect or the part. 🙂
It’s hands look a little odd, perhaps due to the thumb claw being longer. Besides that it’s serviceable.
