Siege Masters & Rune Casters For Warhammer: The Horus Heresy
December 19, 2024 by brennon
Games Workshop previewed many new character miniatures coming to Warhammer: The Horus Heresy over the last few weeks. All of these Forge World Resin releases add to the character of their appropriate Legions and allow you to make more bespoke armies on the tabletop.
Iron Hands Legion Praetor // Warhammer: The Horus Heresy
We start with the most recent miniature that was previewed, the Iron Hands Legion Praetor. Flesh is weak and so the Iron Hands of a certain level find that they can get access to all sorts of bionics and augmentations. As you'll see, this Legion Praetor has had a lot of work done, replacing his leg and both of his arms with powerful new upgrades.

This new Praetor miniature comes clad in Artificer Armour with a Power Fist and Grav Pistol at the ready. He also has Servo Arms to aid him during battle and there is a cyber-familiar lurking on his shoulder. With the option for a different head, you've got a really nice miniature here for making a themed Iron Hands army.
Siege Masters
Sticking with those with a penchant for technological advancement but from the other side of the heretical coin, there was also a Warsmith miniature previewed for the Iron Warriors.

Clad in Cataphractii armour, this fellow really showcases the love of engineering and siegecraft that the Iron Warriors love to indulge in. I imagine this Warsmith is not for moving. He gets access to a Graviton Crusher and a Combi-Grav plus also benefits from a servo arm so that he can get stuck into vehicle repairs on the battlefield.

There are actually going to be two versions of this miniature available to buy. The one that you see here will be on general sale whereas a version of the Warsmith holding his Graviton Crusher in two hands will only be available from Warhammer World.
Read The Runes
Last but not least, we got another miniature for the Space Wolves. A spin on the Legion Consul, the Caster Of Runes is a unique role amongst the Space Wolves and harks back to their own rituals and rites.

He draws on powers that are most definitely not from the Warp and brings the trappings of the shamanistic cult to the battlefield. This opens up some nice options for adding psychic powers (of a sort) into your Space Wolves army, summoning forth howling blizzards to rake your enemies.

Once again, this miniature comes with a couple of different head options so you can go with the full helmet or his bearded face. I always like Space Wolves without helmets as it shows off a bit more of their individuality.
Considering that we didn't get much word that these character miniatures were coming during the previews earlier in the year, it's good to see that we're not just getting "tanks".
