New Sharp Practice Available Now From Too Fat Lardies
April 27, 2016 by brennon
Sharp Practice is now available in a range of new bundles from Too Fat Lardies. If you're looking for a good Napoleonic skirmish game during the era of black powder then this one might be worth a look...
"Sharp Practice covers large skirmishes in the black powder era, from 40 to 60 men a side, but with room to push that up to 100 plus if you care to go large. They focus on the heroic acts of the force leaders who inspire their men on to victory.
The rules are much streamlined from the first edition, with a fast play system which sees action joined almost from the outset and a command and control system which keeps you focused on making the big decisions while the simple yet subtle rules keep the game flowing."
You can also check out a series of videos over on their Youtube Channel and above giving an introduction to the game. It's well worth checking out for some additional information.
Will you be giving this one a try?

From what I have read they have taken what was a god game and made it even better. All the Ladies games are worth a look and plenty of free stuff online to accompany them
Should note irpt covers more than Napoleonics and should easily cover from the FIW to the ACW
I think this is well worth a look – as @torros says all their games are worth a look and well supported.
It is most definitely Not just a Napoleonic skirmish game though it will do that very well. There are lists in the rules covering from the French Indian Wars, AWI, the Peninsular, the Indian Mutiny and the American Civil War and more are promised which will be made available free.
The rules cover skirmish games from 1700 – 1865, Marlborough to the ACW.
This year is rapidly turning into the year of the Rule set for me. With the availability of plastic box sets of figures for the periods covered, I reckon there will be a fair few players getting their first games in the era of black powder with these rules.
Looking at the number of figures needed it would look great in 40mm
Just great ?
Victrix do some 54mm plastics…

Some BOW coverage would be cool.

Some first impressions would be gratefully received
First impressions, the rules are excellent, well laid out and presented and have retained the character driven nature of the original Sharp Practice while streamlining the core mechanics. No more separate card decks but how your Leaders use the Command Cards (or chits) they draw is crucial for success. Lots of tactical decisions to be made. The clever use of different unit Characteristics, which are either triggered automatically or by judicious use of Command cards, allow you to differentiate between units and tailor your force to the specific period you want to play giving lots of period flavour. We thoroughly… Read more »
