Shamans & Prophets New From Avatars Of War This Month
June 27, 2018 by brennon
Avatars Of War dropped two new models onto their webstore this week for those looking to bolster their 9th Age armies. The first of these is the Beastman Shaman.
Looking as twisted and gnarled as the magic that he practises, this fellow would be an awesome new Bray Shaman for your armies on the tabletop. I like the shaggy hair running down his back and the way the muscle detail has been sculpted to bring the most out of him using washes and the like.
There are also plenty of trinkets and accessories on the model allowing you to add some nice spot colours into the mix as well.
Chitting Madness
As well as this fellow we have a Beastman by another name. Here is the Vermin Plague Prophet...
So, if you're running a force which allied to the love of pestilence and disease this might be a good shout. I don't particularly like this model, not compared to the Beastman at any rate. I think from the back the model looks fine but the way the head has been sculpted on top of that bulbous form just looks far too odd for my liking.
I don't think even a different paint scheme could save this piece in my eyes, but if you like it then I hope it works as a great new addition to your force!
Which of the two do you prefer?

Fantastic looking spell caster’s
Those look really good.
Both great minis, like that beast man aesthetic
I think they both look good, but I don’t like the paint scheme on either of them. They’re very, very well painted, but there’s too much colour and contrast to be able to see either model very clearly.
You’ve hit the nail on the head there. I can’t see the miniatures under the paintjob.
Really like the beastman shaman, looks very twisted. The Skaven is a bit too Lord Skrolk to be original.
Well the figures are designed for Ninth Age, aka Warhammer for those who can’t be zogged with this Age of Sigmar nonsense. So, yes, he was probably designed to look like Lord Skrolk or some other Skaven.
the beastman shaman looks great 🙂 that’s an impressive set of horns 😛
They’re awfully busy, like many of GW’s models. Could just be the paint. I’ll be passing these by.
I’m loving the Beastman Shaman. So glad they’re finally adding to their other excellent beastly offerings. Been waiting a looong time for more.
I’ll be picking him up for sure.
