Shakos & Bayonets Rules Coming From Studio Tomahawk
February 26, 2021 by brennon
Studio Tomahawk has revealed that there is a new supplement coming for those who love the Muskets & Tomahawks rules. Shakos & Bayonets is going to be coming soon which allows you to refight the battles of Napoleonic Europe on the tabletop.
Shakos & Bayonets // Studio Tomahawk
So, once you've finished the battles of North America and want to head back across the Atlantic you'll be able to dive into these rules and play out the clashes between the different European powers. As with Muskets & Tomahawks, this means that you'll be doing this in a more skirmish format compared to the larger rank and file games it seems.

Individual bases units are the name of the day but there are still quite a lot of miniatures on display as part of these examples we've been seeing. So, if you like the grandeur of the Napoleonic era then you probably aren't going to be missing out.

As a well-loved system that has seen plenty of play on the tabletop, one would imagine that the team behind this will have refined the rules to make sure they play great out of the box. I'm sure a lot of people will be interested to see where this goes.
Are you going to be heading over to Europe and picking up Shakos & Bayonets?

Nice!
Either my mind plays tricks on me or it’s a case of “other game with similar name”… wasn’t there a different game “shakos & something” from… Ghana Games or something… god I hate my lack of remembering names….
Are you referring to ‘a song of Drums and Shakos’ maybe? It is also a Napoleonic skirmish game.
Yes, thank you… Ganesha games was the company… hah, brain still not completely fried (yet) XD
you’re sure it wasn’t “shaka when the walls fell” 😉
Three lights!
There was also a Napoleonic set of rules just called Shako
I’m really exited for this.
Interesting, will have to check this ruleset out.
I heard they make some other good rules, for example SAGA.
oh? what is this Saga of which you speak?
Can you have Indians in your forces?
It might be a little bit tricky to incorporate this historically, but you could probably combine this ruleset with the Muskets and Tomahawks ruleset to recreate battles of the Revolutionary War with Indians joining up with or fighting the colonists, along with British and Hessian troops.
could be an interesting addition.
The original supplement Redcoats and Tomahawks covers French indian wars and American war of independence there are rules for woodland indians in there. You will need the main rules which is Muskets and Tomahawks to play that as well as the new supplement Shako’s and bayonets. It looks like they are going to go along the same lines as Saga with a main rule book that covers all the universe books
Indians is the change I dislike in M&T II, l’ESS choice, or less obvious to build and Indian only force.
I couldn’t agree more I miss the old hidden rules in the 1st edition. Moving around decoy markers in the woods was great fun
How many minis does this game play best with ?
40-60 a side
Thanks mate. Guess thats a Napoleonic skirmish size 😀
