Send Your Minis Across Deep-Cut’s Scorching Desert Mat
March 10, 2015 by dracs
Deep-Cut Studio's latest terrain mat has been released, placing our minis in the parched landscape of the deepest desert. As with many of their other mats, Deep-Cut are selling this desert mat at 4x6, 4x4 and 3x3 sizes, printed on either PVC or cloth depending on what you prefer.
Deep-Cut are doing an excellent job at providing detailed gaming mats, letting you set your games in a variety of locations which open them up to new environmental rules. This desert mat is particularly good as it is well suited to any genre, letting you create the planet of Tatooine or even an abandoned outskirts town in Malifaux.
Deep-Cut Studios put some great detail into their mats and even though the desert is barren it does provide you with something pretty photo-realistic much like the cobblestone and infernal patterns above for some of the other mats they have on offer.
Do you use terrain mats? What rules can you think of for basing your game in a desert?

Are these just printed or is there some relief in them?
spice must flow
as per a youtube vid the PVC mat was so glossy you could hardly see the surface if the sun hits it … and the cloth version is way too costly imo, so too bad .. these look good otherwise
not just the sun (lol), but light in general 😛
Thanks @hatamoto . I think I’ll stick to Woodland Scenics’ excellent vinyl mats ($25, covers a 4′ x 8′ table with vinyl to spare), and just build my own boards in relief as I need them.
I like the idea, and being able to note effects directly with a marker might be a benefit
