Seek Wisdom from Crooked Dice’s Maniacal Guru
October 7, 2013 by dracs
Two new and rather exotic looking miniatures have appeared over at Crooked Dice. Set for releases in early November they are the imposing Guru and the assassin Kali.
In my opinion the Guru is one of the best miniatures Crooked Dice has ever shown off.
One foot on a prostrate cultist with dramatic robes whipping around him. You cannot get much cooler than this guy. I would be tempted to pick him up just to use as an evil wizard, or even a vampire.
Kali, on the other hand, is slightly less flamboyant, but no less cool.
Kali is an assassin in the employ of SHIVA and has been sculpted in a far more dynamic stance that Crooked Dice usually go for.
However, I have to say that something about her doesn't quite sit right with me. I think it is the way her arm is thrown out straight behind her. Despite the fact that the sculpt in general has a lot of motion, that arm looks uncomfortably static.
Which do you prefer, the Assassin or the Guru?

As an assassin of SHIVA she should have 2 pairs of arms at least! 😛
The arm is a little stiff Sam, but the whole sculpt is to. It is screaming out for rotation of the torso and the straight leg really doesn’t help.
As this is a new move (pun not intended) into a dynamic pose for Crooked Dice I guess it is understandable, and hopefully they will learn how to pose the figures better in the future
A variation of foot-on-rock syndrome, foot-on-gnome syndrome. I hope it doesn’t catch on.
Not thrilled with these tbh.
I don’t see how anybody wearing that top could possibly qualify as “slightly less flamboyant”. It must be taped on.
chewing gum or blu tac on the nipples.
It’s what I use.
I love Crooked Dice – 7TV is huge fun & these are some of their best minis yet…
The quality of the sculpts are not always perfect (they tend to be a bit static) but they are made with so much quirky humour and nods to 70s TV that I find them irrestable (no self-respecting Dr Who fan should be without them!)
