Leonard Retires from the Final Frontier
May 27, 2014 by dracs
Well it's a sad day for Trekkies as the legendary actor Leonard Nimoy has announced his retirement from acting.
Nimoy is most well known for his role as the logical science officer Spock in the original TV series, but he has had a long and varied career including roles in the television show Fringe and voice acting for Transformers and the game Kingdom Hearts. And let's not forget The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins.
As well as retiring from acting, the 83 year old icon is supposedly retiring from the convention circuit, although he does still apparently to make Skype appearances at some upcoming cons.
While it is sad to see this acting legacy come to an end, I think we can all agree that he deserves his retirement. Live Long and Prosper.
A sad day indeed, a true sci fi legend but I’d say he deserves his retirement.
Fascinating.
I hear Sheldon Cooper having a nervous breakdown…
… not to mention the screen writers from the new Star Trek movies.
“Augh! How will we write the next movie without expository dialogue from the next “Spock Prime” cameo appearance !?!?
Come back, Leonard! Come baaaaaaack!”
And if they drive a sufficiently large dumper truck full of money up to his houise, he might even consider it… 😉
Right? “You can do it from your house, Leonard, we’ll Photoshop in the background behind you afterwards!”
That’s what they did for the turbolifts so why not.
It is true a “large dumper truck full of money” can change even the most stubborn mind.
What can I say but amen, good luck, and God speed. Sure, we’re all sad to see him retire, but like Spock’s mom says in Start Trek IV … “the needs of the one sometimes outweigh the needs of the many.”
*probably didn’t get that quote just right … 😐
Holy christ you gave me heart attack. I thought you were gonna say he’d snuffed it.
As much as i’d love for him to carry on. He certainly deserves his retirement an wish him all the best.
I admit I got a sense of dread reading this articles title too! So glad it was not a worst case scenario.
I used to think of myself as more a Star Wars purist, but then Lucas destroyed my dream.
You can’t take anything away from Nimoy, he was, and is, awesome. All the best to him in his retirement, he earned it!
He has created a legacy that is “fascinating!”
83 is that not young for a Vulcan to retire. Lol
Nope, like @gladesrunner says below, my man’s just getting started! 😀
Best of luck to him
Ha he only says he is retiring. In reality his Pon Farr is coming around again and he needs time to prepare and recuperate. The little blue pill only helps with part of that shit 🙂
Hold up. Pon Farr? 83 is not divisible by 7, so I’m afraid I will have to outgeek your geekness and disprove your flawed and illogical hypothesis. Hold up, unless his body clock got a little scrambled when he died and was resurrected in Star Treks II-III. Okay, it may be possible. 🙂
He retired before… He could come back. Still, he deserves a rest.
There goes my hopes and dreams about a Mission: Impossible time travel event to reboot the franchise.
Spock lives again? He may be in the new star trek film with kirk
