The Sci-Fi Dread Squad Takes Form From Artel W Miniatures
November 20, 2020 by brennon
Artel W Miniatures are turning from working on Sci-Fi Orcs and instead turn their attention to terrifying Chaos foes instead. Here we have the first couple of art pieces for the Dread Squad who are soon going to be coming to their webstore.
Dread Squad // Artel W Miniatures
This fancy fellow comes with a brutal looking sword, a powerful mechanical claw which is covered in blades and some obviously corrupted armour. This fellow looks like he enjoys doing a little bit of experimenting when it comes to who and what he kills. You could maybe see him being a younger Fabius Bile perhaps.
As well as this fellow above who seems to be a character, you've also got this chap here who is a heavy weapon user, seeking to simply mow through his enemies.

The concept art is looking absolutely awesome and I like that it's slightly more cartoony than some of the other pieces we've seen. It means that a lot more of the heroic qualities come through in the sculpt. You can see this in the Dread Squad Leader here...

Prepare your massive gun and sword and get ready to start brutally carving your way through your enemies. Whilst there might be a lot of evil-looking marks and sigils on these fellows you could maybe have them being renegades rather than full-on evil Space Marines. I like the idea of Space Marines which have gone off on their own and adopted a different way of viewing the world and their role in it.
Are you tempted by these new Dread designs?

Double foot on rock! INDUSTRY DISTURBING!
That’s terrain embellishment my friend. You can do a single shot foot on rock and its canon to the trope. You can’t pull a double Captain Morgan unless you’re doing a gopnik squat (with mandatory vodka). I don’t believe its possible in power armor.
Based heavily on the Nightlords trilogy by ADB looking at them, no bad thing.
Those are some great looking alternatives to be Nightlords. Only bad thing is that several of those have foot on rock pose.
The chaos marine’s look way better than standard marine’s and the apothecary looks great.
Despite the obvious nitpicky comments about their posing (You all know who you are…whinge, whinge), I really like what Artel’s doing with these guys. The fact they have corrupted Imperial iconography along with their Chaos symbols gives them a lot more character than your standard one-note Chaos marine.
Is a beautyfull tradition fot talos XD
The first claw! Probably the best saga of books about chaos ever!.. cool
I really like these.
