December 2, 2015 by stvitusdancern
Scale 75's Smog Riders, the cute Chibi miniatures has a new Starter Set for anyone looking to get into painting these bright colourful characters.
This new set contains everything that you will need to get you going to includes ten paints, one ink, a brush, sandpaper, a base and miniature.
There is also a twenty-six page painting guide to take you step by step into the wonderful world of miniature painting.
This looks to be a wonderful way to get anyone into painting and will make a nice Christmas gift for the modeler or gamer in your life. We got some of the paints at Gen Con this year along with a miniature and they all seem to be a quality product.
What do you think of this Set?

There’s also a KS for Smog Riders which is due to end very soon.
The chibi design of Smog riders will appeal to some and repel others, but it’s very well done in any case… and the Scale 75 paint range is flawless ! I use it a lot.
If you use it and like it, that is a big endorsement for me!
Thank you ! But don’t be “married” to a brand. Experimenting is key ! 🙂 I find Scale 75 ideal for glazes and display painting, for airbrushing as well, and comes in drop-bottles, but I like P3 better if I’m going to paint for gaming. Vallejo is a great all-purpose brand, comes in drop bottles (always better) and has every colour and texture you could ever want. Citadel has a few interesting transparent colours, but they should be used parcimoniously unless you’re chain-painting rank… Read more »
Set looks great and i hear good things about the range so much so that my good lady is buying me some Scale 75 paints for Xmas….ho ho ho 🙂
scale75 rendering is much better than any other acrylic.
some people will find it a pain to use because of the thickness of the medium they uses, but the final is very rewarding with a deerskin aspect which is awesome compared to the other satin touch of pa / vallejo / gw and such…
Just a word of warning, scale 75 paints are layer paints. Don’t be expecting to get a basecoat down with them or you’ll be there for the rest of your life. Also they are aimed at the more exoerienced painter i would say, they do give a lovely finish though. Just be careful to give them a good shake as they seperate loads. Hmm in two minds whether to warm you about the…….. nah let you discover that for yourself.
Yes, priming black under Scale75 paints is suicide…
And you have to pierce their drop bottles with a needle first for the paint to flow : they don’t come “open”. I think it’s a packaging thing.
heh, thats what i wasn’t going to warn people about. I was leaping about like a loon trying to get the paint to come out before i noticed.
