Savage Orruks & New Sets For Age Of Sigmar This Weekend [Updated]
July 12, 2016 by brennon
Popping up online this week we're seeing the leaks from the upcoming White Dwarf which detail a horde of interesting models on the way. The leaders of the pack this week are the reboxings for the Savage Orruks in Age of Sigmar by Games Workshop...
You can see the cover of the new White Dwarf Issue HERE which gives you a hint as to the Orruks coming to get involved in the battles of Warhammer. In terms of the actual boxes that will be on offer...
- Battletome: Bonesplitterz
- Bonesplitterz Savage Orruks
- Bonesplitterz Savage Boarboys
So, they will be named the Bonesplitterz, an offshoot of the new Orruks and get their own book which is neat.
Easy To Build Stormcast & More
Additionally they also have a few more interesting sets which appear to be a helpful way to get started in the world with your first miniatures AND bolster your existing collection.
Storm Of Sigmar Images HERE + Getting Started Magazine
So what does this mean? Well, you're going to get a new box called Storm of Sigmar which comes with...
- 2x Retributors
- 3x Liberators
- 3x Blood Warriors
- 5x Blood Reavers
...as well as dice, battle plans and more. This effectively gives you a little skirmish set to get playing the game with. One assumes the miniatures will also be in the 'Easy Build' style that we're also seeing as they take those kits mentioned above and make them into new tiny boxes.
New paint sets are also on the way plus the General's Handbook will be coming on the 23rd (can't wait!).

I missed on commenting on the Sylvaneth as I’ve been away for a couple of weeks. So I’ll start by saying that Alarielle was great. The leaves on her wings looked more metallic than organic, but it’s a minor quibble. Wasn’t keen on the beetle, but I haven’t liked any of the large plastic monsters GW have done recently. I’m finding the artwork on the Savage Orruks to be a bit bland and lacking in character. The one on the cover of WD looks like he’s posing for a photo shoot in which he’s been told to hold the pose… Read more »
that Orruk comment is spot on, the pose lacks any dynamic motion it looks like someones reposed a multi part plastic model and then illustrated the stance.
Wow I am very excited about this. I was waiting for the Orruks to see if I would get into AoS but I was not that impressed with the new armoured, cleaner look. Savage Orruks though? I loved the old savage Orks, I would even be happy if they kept some of the sculpts, but these definitely have the potential to get me involved!!!
I do agree with @redben though, the artwork isn’t blowing me away….. yet!
I like the idea of the AoS skirmish starter..might be one to pick up for games with my son.
Yes it is a good idea nad here you got pictures of this set: http://forum.spikeybits.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=7029&d=1468271867 and http://forum.spikeybits.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=7030&d=1468271868
and pictures of the Getting started with Age of Sigmar magazine which will include a free Liberator: http://forum.spikeybits.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=7031&d=1468271869
Thank you for the links @iceeagle85 – have added them above 🙂

Thanks Ice Eagle, looks like a pretty swish set. I assume it will have missions or whatever…wonder what size board, 2ftsq maybe.
The text mentions 4 Battleplans and as far as i understand it these are scenarios in AoS.
I have to say i really like those stat cards, would be awesome if they would put similiar cards online for all miniatures or put such cards into the boxes.
@brennon
No problem, helping is good 😉
This Storm of Sigmar starter set looks to be a real good starter for someone who is thinking of trying out the hobby. Or for someone (perhaps like me) who just wants to paint a few cool miniatures.
I know its not how GW operates, but what if the getting started mag was free? If it causes a black hole to open close to earth then nevermind ..
That would be nice, but then it would surely be without a miniature and perhaps a just a digital mag, would still be great.
Have no fear. The models never look like the art, which is a shame. I’m sure we’ll be treated to another parade of cartoon characters when the time comes. I hope I’m wrong.
Can anyone tell me if AoS has grown a soul yet?
I think it has – I think the new Path To Glory rules will be a lot of fun and the narrative campaign coming this Summer should also be a lot of fun.
It’s doing well in tournaments and such too which is great and people are really stretching their creative legs.
