SAGA’s Compendium Is Ready Plus Dark Age Calender!
September 27, 2014 by brennon
Stronghold Terrain have been working with Gripping Beast and Studio Tomahawk to bring Europeans a version of the SAGA rules and their big SAGA Compendium is now available for pre-order alongside a rather cool looking Dark Age Calender!
The Compendium however, seems to only be in German. It does however contain everything from Northern Fury, Raven's Shadow and everything concerning the Pagan Rus, Skraeling and the Steppe Mongolians. So not bad if you're looking for a book that contains everything you'd need to play SAGA...and you read German.
Regardless of the cool compendium however I WISH I could get my hands on this awesome Calender that also comes as part of the purchase (as far as I can tell). It has some awesome battle scenes on it and would be perfect to hang over my painting table reminding me of how few miniatures I've actually ended up finishing. Or how I still don't have my proper Anglo-Dane Dice...
Some awesome stuff from this collaboration and perfect for European SAGA players!
Would you love an English compendium?

I’d like a hardback version of the rules. If they are going to release an English version we should know pretty soon as the calender would indicate a release in time for crimbo.
@brennon no proper dice ? I have a spare set that I won. I’ll dig them out your names on em.
Here’s hoping @huscarle – and aye yeah, my local store just refuses to order in the SAGA dice so I’ve been using some regular D6 for my Anglo-Danes/Saxons! If you’re ok with parting with that set it would be most appreciated!

Your welcome and may they heap fatigue on your foes.
+1 @huscarle
A hardcover compilation of all the books, updated with the FAQs and erratas, like they did with Crescent and the Cross, would be awesome!
I’d definitely be interested in an English version
just picked up the rules for this today
I want to buy the rules to play as vikings but I was put off since the crescent and the cross was released. I want the updated rules but the boards from the original saga rulebook. Is that essentially what this book is?
@mrparka yes this is a compilation of the first four books including the core rules plus errata. If you want to play Vikings you either wait for this to come out in English or just get the first book now and download errata.
The core rules are also in Crescent and Cross they are the same as Saga only a little clearer, not that they are too taxing to start with.
Thanks huscarle, I’ll wait and grab this, use the time to finish painting my vikings….. As if that’ll happen! 🙂
It doesn’t do to keep Vikings out of a fight for too long 🙂
An English version of this would be excellent.
I’d love one of these. I have the core Saga book and would like the rest of the stuff, including C&C. Everything in one book would be ideal for me.
i must admit ive been wanting to pick this up for ages (doesnt help that rubbishin rubbishout has restarted posting videos off it again) and a big book in english would be great
Right before the big “Spiel 2014” in Essen Germany – with is probably the biggest board games tradeshow in Europe – maybe in the world, this announcement is no wonder. For the german version of SAGA, they took a lot of new photos. So they tell on their webpage there are lots of the pictures of the cool displays they made. The calendar is limited to the first 200 preorders of the compendium.
