Warlord Games Open Pre-Order For The Roman Invasion Of Britain
December 30, 2017 by thisisazrael
Warlord Games have a huge new Hail Caesar box set for The Roman Invasion Of Britain, now available for pre-order.
The legions of Rome land upon the shores of Britain clash with the ancient tribes and Celtic warriors.
Leading the invasion is a metal Roman commander on horseback.
Alongside him, you'll get 40 hard plastic Roman Legionnaires plus a Roman Scorpion catapult & crew.
Defending their homeland are 80 hard plastic Celtic Infantry lead by a Celt Chieftan on his steed.
Both sides also receive some nicely sculpted casualty markers.
You'll also get yourself an A5 Hail Caesar rulebook, Quick Start guide, dice, decals and reference sheets.
All in all a really nice way to get into the game of Hail Caesar in the new year.
What do you think of this new boxset?

Those are really nice Romans and Celts.
Hail Caesar just need a tweak to allow for good games even without having hundreds of figures to gain some tractions, the rules are very good but the game is not very accessible
They need the Emperor Claudius and his war Elephant. He virtually won the war single handed.
The Legions were stalled by immense British resistance – so they sent a request to Rome for urgent aid. Claudius arrived and won the war in less than sixteen days (minus travel time and parading about acting triumphant) 🙂
Seriously – just finished Robert Fabbri, ‘Masters of Rome’. Its about Vespasian and the invasion of Britain. Fabbri hates Claudius and he has the Druids summoning supernatural flesh-shredding demons! Awesome!! That must be why the Romans needed elephants 🙂
Not entirely sure what’s new apart from the command figures.
Great stuff for newbies I suppose..
Personally I would go with Victrix plastics tho. Second to none.
The Romans are outstanding and the Gauls wil follow next year along with plastic cavalry for both sides.
Best of all..all in the same scale 😎
Unlike the Warlord minis I hate to say 🙁
Good starter set, I suppose a campaign book is to follow.
nice.
Bloody Romans , always off invading something……b@stards. .
I do like the look of the Hail Ceaser starter box however. It looks very solid.
I will investigate this (and this has nothing to do with the fact that this has nothing to do with the fact that I only made one purchase from Warlord this year … I am not feeling guilty in the slightest that I haven’t supported a company I like and admire much this year. No not at all………………………………………..Sorry Mr Warlord , I’ll try harder next year 🙁 )
Someone just showed me the trailer for the Britannia TV Series – good timing for the boxed set.
I wonder how the Warlord Celts compare with the Victrix Romans?

Great share @grimcrazy this looks great 😀

the old starter set was good but I very much welcome the arrival of command figures. Isn’t it bizarre, just a few years back and Warlord bringing out the plastic Romans was a first for the industry, crackers how fast Historical gaming has progressed since then. Must admit, do prefer the Victrix plastics but this set does have a solid spot to fill when it comes to introducing people to the era. A5 rulebook IMO is a good move as surprisingly I probably would have been put off by a clunky hardback – lot of other rule sets out there… Read more »
I really like Warlord’s Celts but the Romans are not the best. Excellent value though.
The residential sergeant major will kill me if I pick this up, but resistance is futile.
